crazy to see how hard he has to work for his shots. people who dont see nowitzki play and just watching boxscore might be thinking that he is done.

but he isnt (right now). he still spaces the floor and the defense is still a lot of focused on him.
how he runs around the floor and makes pnr for just having one shot is hard to watch. his legs and ankles have to be fresh for playoffs...but i cant see this happen, even if he sits some back2backs

i know that dirk probably wont have the longevity of TD or Kobe.
Watching TD and even Kobe is crazy. These guys, especially TD, are still looking kinda fresh. TD is still one of the best defender in the league and he is STILL averaging a double double with elite defense. this dude could easily have a 15-18 mio contract on every team. incredbile. TD can easily play to the age of 40-42.
on the other hand, I think that Dirk, at the and of his contract will play like 16 min a game and maybe coming off the bench. i accept it. but...as long as he plays like this we have to be thankful that he still is in this league.

his transition D is very very bad.....hurts me to see this sometime...how he runs back with his legs of a 70yers old man. hehe

He's not a guy who you can just cut his minutes severely and just stick on the weakside as a spot up shooter to make his minutes easier. It's not that simple. He's a #1 all time NBA offensive player who is used to getting the ball in the post and one on one situations and the offense flowing through him for the entire time he's out on the court. It's tough to ask him to play the weakside, spot up, take it easy role, and then just expect him to turn a switch and suddenly be the main guy hitting sick turnarounds in the last few minutes. His rythm has been off and he hasn't been using his bag of tricks nearly as much as were used to (which get him in rythm by the way). This could be due to his back, but I think it's a conscious effort to manage him so he doesn't get broken down. I'm almost okay with this (we ARE 17-7 ya know?), but we really need to remember where our bread is buttered. Coming down the stretch and playoff time, we need full monty Dirk. I think/hope the Mavs understand this and we might just have to live with a less Dirk oriented regular season, which means we might not have a great record against the better teams. So be it if he's ready to rock and roll come playoff time.

That was a hell of a game man. Coming from a Bulls fan, Dirk Nowtizki is a very underrated player and a complete LEGEND. I'm glad he got his ring in 2011.

His game is very economical and efficient I think he can go for awhile offensively. Defense will be a problem and the post season might bother him some in the future. But if he's playing like he is in that clip - he can likely sustain that for a couple of years.

In a couple of the early clips he was holding his back though. He plays standing very straight, moreso than other players??? Not that I know what that means or could mean. Might be a way of conserving energy but his back probably accumulates stress that way.

dirk suffers from back and ankle injuries since nearly 2 weeks. but it doesnt seem to be serious or major injuries cause he is playing. but you can clearly say that he is not at 90% due to the minor injuries. in addition with his age its not the best way to get fresh and healthy for playoffs.

i dont think he can sustain this for a "couple" of years. i see him next year reducing his minutes heavily and maybe in his last contract year coming off the bench.
dirk looks so exhausted every game, like he is forcing unnormally his body to reach the 30min a game

He's a finesse player but he's been playing more in the post and setting up screens since 2011. That kind of physical impact takes a toll on your body. At least Dallas have more scoring options now, but sadly, not one of them is half as reliable in the clutch as Dirk.

This year Monta is super clutch so far, he also was in the Playoffs against your Spurs last year especially in game 6.

But this team's ceiling is 2nd round, can't win with Nelson, Harris and Barrea getting heavy minutes.

hopefully coach sees that you cant give jameer more than 10min a game. you have to start harris with barrea getting 18-20min off the bench.

concerning felton.... well we have to see a couple of games with him, but i dont think he will be an important piece

I don't think their PG rotation is at fault. Barea has been playing well, and Harris is what he is, a scoring PG. The Ellis/Harris duo gave the spurs so many problems. I thought Nelson would thrive on Carlisle's system but I was dead wrong.

They can't defend anyone. Even Jrue Holiday went for a season high against them last game.

Parsons looks great since he lost his summer fat, but without perimeter defense the whole defense collapses.

He should get a whole week break in Jan. Two weeks off in Mid March. Chandler will have to take on more of a scoring burden then. They'll have a chance.

dirk is overrated.
