The difference between him and Jordan is miniscule. Not too much of a difference but I feel Kobe's career has span into different generations of the NBA, with difference defenses, that he can be considered GOAT. We've never seen MJ in multiple generations of play and that is not a knock on him. He would probably do well but we don't know. With Kobe, there is definitive proof of his ability.

Also, his popularity, like MJ, is off the charts and popularity is a huge factor in determining GOAT. For example, Lebron is in his prime and nobody really cares while the internet basketball community is going nuts for GOAT against the Spurs.

Fantastic, brilliant and an astonishing player.

Wilt: 30.1/22.4/4.4/54%, 7-10 blocks a game, 4 MVPs, owns record book

Kobe: 25.5/5.2/4.7/45.2%, 1 MVP, owns chucking record

Wrong.

Wilt averaged 20 blocks a game.

Yes he is and I will tell you why. Imagine Kobe winning a ring the way Duncan won it last year, he would be ridiculed for it while Duncan is praised for it?

Yes we have. His career spanned from 84 to 2003. The 80s style was completely different from the 90's, and 2003 is acknowledged as a tough defensive era. He left just before the perimeter changes came about opening up the perimeter. Now if your argument is that Kobe's game is timeless, you're correct. Thats why we call the best of the best 'all-time' great, it means your greatness isnt just limited to the era you played, but should be able to successfully cross into other eras.

But if you want to talk about a player transcending generations, there was a guy in the same game last night that has potentially an even better case: Tim Duncan. Kobe has gone through various transformations in his game over the years, Duncan's game has remained the EXACT SAME for 18 years and he's still all-star level at 38, with the same level of wear and tear( though never an injury to the level that Kobe experienced 2 years ago).

He would probably do well but we don't know.

Stop trying to start BS arguments.
