70.2% by this player. Led their team in rebounds, second in assists, third in scoring.

Nobody who's scored 10 or more points has shot 70% or higher in a finals.

Russell

Russell

Correct! I saw that by chance and wondered if anyone else had done that. There were a few with higher FG%, but they were role players or guys who only took a few shots.

For a big who sometimes gets criticized for his regular season FG%, he had some good shooting finals.

Russell today would have the same kind of impact he had back then. Not only have we not had another chamberlain (although offensively shaq did show some dominance), there has also never been another Russell, someone who not only had enormous wingspan but had fantastic athletic ability, agility, and quickness. I didnt watch Garnett in 04 but he was probably the closest. Duncan has length but not the agility Russell had.

Cant say im impressed, 10 ppg from a offensive rebounder, putting back shots or as a recipient, with a rare own created shot sometimes which was right under the basket most likely anyways.... thats how Chris Andersen in 2013 Finals averaged 72.7% FG....

Ah, I missed that. Can I arbitrarily put the qualifier at 15 ppg? How about 15/15/5?

The greatest thing about russell (from what ive heard) was his 100% effort every game on defense.

Alot of people seem to believe that you need a defensive bigman (anchor) to win a chip. then its no suprise that russell won 11.

and apparently he was a great leader too.

Anderson averaged 5.8 ppg to get his .727. Russell averaged 17.8 ppg on his .702. A HUGE difference.

BTW, the Warriors Derrick Dickey averaged 8.8 ppg in the '75 Finals, and shot .739. However, the acknowledged record is Russell's .702 .

And furthermore, Russell's .702 came in a post-season NBA that shot an FG% of .429. Birdman's .727 came in a post-season NBA that shot an eFG% of .486.

And we all know defense/leadership was his biggest attribute to those Celtic teams.

Anything he did on offense was gravy, 18 on 70% is pretty insane.
