View Full Version : We gonna act like Kyle Korver isn't shooting 53/56/95?

Unreal. I think the most impressive part is that he's #1 in 3s made, but only #17 in 3s attempted.

Respect the hell out of this dude..loved him in Chicago and I'm really glad he's been able to carry it on. Plays within himself..found what he does well, and has mastered it completely. Easy to say generic stuff like "every team needs someone like him"..but guys like Korver are incredibly difficult to find in the league. Just wish the Hawks were actual contenders, dude deserves a ring. I'm not totally aware of what they've got going on but who knows, maybe they make some moves, acquire some key pieces and make a run sometime soon.

When you only score like 12PPG it's no big deal.

But he leads the NBA in 3 pointers made. It's not like he isn't taking shots

It's not like he is a threat to go off for 30 points or something.

Hotlanta, yes he is as a spotup / catchnshoot shooter, but still this is pretty damn crazy considering the magnitude of shots.

I got negged for making this topic back when he was at ~51/53/92

Any comparisons to NBA spot-up shooting specialists in the past?

I think Steve Kerr had a 50/50/90 season one of the years the three point line was moved in. (Could be wrong though if someone wants to correct/confirm.)

That's what role players do, and Kyle is pretty efficient in what is asked of him. He can score 15 or he can score 6, but his shooting is going to force the defense to spread, opening up the game for his team on offense.

He's a good defender too. Every team in the league wishes they had a Kyle Korver.

If you're counting on Kyle Korver that much your team will not be going far. There is a reason that other teams made him come off the bench.

Calling Korver a spot-up shooter is disrespectful. He can spot up, run off screens, and shoot off the dribble.

Goood defender? Coach Bud was subbing him on defense last night because his defense was bad.

Good is probably too strong a word. I should have probably said "solid" or "better than advertised". I certainly don't consider him a "bad" defender, like I'm sure most people assume.

If you're counting on Kyle Korver that much your team will not be going far. There is a reason that other teams made him come off the bench.

Different teams, with different structure and game plan, require different role players to produce in order to succeed. Like Danny Green, like PJ Tucker, both went from being under utilized on their former team to teams which can make use of their traits, and becoming key contributors there.

Teams need to count on these role players, be it outside shooting, wing/paint defense, rebounding, playmaking etc. In most cases, the things that the star players can't provide or coaches doesn't want them to exhaust themselves doing, that's when you wish you got a role player, a specialist to step up and produce.

You are right. Steve Kerr did have one 50/50/90 season, the only such season in NBA history

I rather have Anthony Morrow.

Guarantee he will be clutch in the playoffs. I actually have no doubts.

He didn't have near the volume Korver is having.

The difficulty of his shots is what amazes me, seeing how his efficiency is through the roof.

He's making off the screen catch and shoot 3's with only a split second to square off or mid range jumpers coming off curls fading away. It's not like hes making layups.

What? Based on his previous playoff experience?

All this talk about Korver, but I think Elfrid Payton deserves some props too.

A 37/25/47 shooting line is nothing to shake your head at :oldlol:

I mean, it's nearly impossible for a PG to be that bad at shooting unless his name is Rajon Rondo and he's actually good at passing and defense.
