Some interesting facts about the actual heights of NBA players...
http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/
DeAndre Jordan: 6-9 3/4...same height as Bill Russell.
Andre Drummond: 6-9 3/4...same height as Bill Russell.
Demarcus Cousins: 6-9 1/2...shorter than Bill Russell.
And we know that Dwight Howard is also 6-9 3/4, or same height as Bill Russell.
And, where are all of the seven-footers who supposedly litter NBA rosters? Hell, even 6-11 players are not as common as the NBA guides would have you believe.

Small detail, Dwight is only 6-9, not 6-9 and 3/4.

Durant is taller than Stoudemeire

Also, biggest height exaggerations that I've seen thus far would probably be Kevin Love and Michael Beasley. Both are 6'7" but get listed at 6'10".
And lawwwwd, Blake is 6'9" with a 6'11" wingspan. :biggums: Beta as FVCK.

Wilt: 6'7 w/o shoes.

Why are you posting their heights without shoes ?
Do NBA players play in barefeet ?

Demarcus is a legit 6-10 barefeet
He grew a little during his first year
Besides; it just makes his dominance THAT much more impressive.
The modern day Charles Barkley except he'll end up with some championship gold

Thanks for the clarification.
This topic is one of your areas of expertise (and I know that you have posted them before), but please feel free to add known player heights.
Like Ben Wallace: 6-7
Charles Barkley: A shade under 6-5.
Ralph Sampson: Same height as KAJ (A shade under 7-2)
Hakeem: 6-10
Of course, what is fascinating about the CURRENT NBA, is that there are very few legit seven-footers, and not many more legit 6-11 players.

People run faster and jump higher than they used to.
Do you think the NBA avoids applying to this fact?

That's why the 6-7 Kevin Love ran away with a rebounding title a couple of years ago. And a 37 year old Steve Nash, playing 33 mpg, led the league in apg a couple of years ago. And a 6-11 broken down Andrew Bogut led the NBA in bpg a couple of years ago. Hell, how about fulltime starter Ricky Rubio shooting .357 from the field a couple of years ago?
And how does a 38 year old Tim Duncan still rank among the best players in the league? And a 36 year old Kobe, and after two major operations, scoring 25.4 ppg?
Yep...a much better taller, longer, bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic NBA today.

Not really.
Your height just is what it is. What you are doing at the moment to modify what it appears to be shouldn't be recorded as official.
No need to take it to an extreme and weigh guys naked....
But your listed height shouldnt be what you decide to make it with that days shoes. Thats exactly why they measure barefoot.
Short guys trying to BS their way into a higher pick by wearing shoes to come off taller than reality.

A valid excuse for the NBA to get a free pass fudging list info? Or should this logic be fairly applied to all sports and all fans be informed "from now on player measurements in all sports are to include the clothing/equipment they play in".
IE all fans should know:
American Football and Hockey height/weights to include helmets/pads and cleats/skates
right? After all, is that not more relevant to fans than knowing just the raw height and weight of the athletes, being that they always play in the equipment? Why bother wanting to know how they stack up as physical athletes to compare to other athletes in the real world? Wayne Gretzky 6 foot 185lbs without his hockey gear on? WHO CARES dude is LEGIT 6-4 200 with it on lets just refer to him as 6-4 200 from here on out! :hammerhead:

What does that have to do with anything? Karl Malone was averaging 20 at 39 years old, and winning MVPs at 35 years old. Doesn't mean the league was weak back then.
Kareem was averaging 23 as a 38 year old too btw.
Wilt was shooting like 70% in his last season while grabbing 20 rebounds, was the league weak in the 1970s?
Players in the current generation have better technology/knowledge/nutrition/etc to better condition their bodies than players of previous generations. That's all there is to it. Steve Nash leading the league in assists as a 37 years old tells us how great Steve was, not how weak the league was.
Physically wise, the current generation is just better due to better technology, better training methods/techniques, etc. Bob Cousy was smoking cigs back when he played, nobody's doing that shit now.

You're comparing JR Smith....... to Bob Cousy
the moment players get in the NBA he's got trainers with 20+ years of experience giving you advice on conditioning/diet/etc in today's NBA
the medical technology is so advanced now that it's possible to recover from what would be career ending back then.
tell me, what does the 60s have?
There's a reason you never rarely saw players playing past the age of 36 back in the 60s compared to now.

Not really. Other leagues measure barefoot don't they? I thought the NBA used to as well. These days you see large variations in height between different camps/tournaments guys play in. Doesn't really matter at the end of the day beyond people should know their heights aren't accurate.
A lot of the guards listed at 6" are more like 5"10 as well.

The NBA used to measure barefoot up until the 1980s more or less I think. the Euroleague mesures it's players barefeet and in meters (more accurate), for example.

It's bad enough that the measuring methods have changed throughout the years, but it is downright ridiculous when a 6-7 3/4 Kevin Love is listed at 6-10. Same with Ben Wallace, who was listed at 6-9, but even he admitted he was 6-7.
And it is almost laughable too, to watch games where one "6-10" player towers over another "6-11" player.

Everyone goes to work in shoes but only in the NBA do they list players height in shoes. Makes no sense at all.
Josh Smith is 6'7" but listed at 6'9".

At the age of 17 he was 6-11.5
7-1 1/16th without shoes when he played for the Warriors.
And later when he was about 40 after he'd lost some height and gained 70lbs he was measured again, 7 foot and a half inches without shoes.
The difference between him and Dwight is like the difference between Kobe and Chris Paul... Think that isn't significant?

Considering Dwight was also considerably stronger than Wilt, the height difference is negligible

Sadly it's been like that for years. Some examples...
Current:
Dwight Howard is 6-9 buy listed at 6-11
Kevin Love is 6-7 3/4 but listed at 6-10
Carlos Boozer is about 6-6 and listed at 6-9
Damian Lillard is about 6-0 1/2 and listed at 6-3
Klay Thompson is about 6-4 and listed at 6-7
Isaiah Thomas is 5-8ish and listed at 5-10
Past:
Hakeem Olajuwon is about 6-10 but listed at 7-0
Brian Shaw is 6-3 1/2 but listed at 6-6
John Starks is 6-2 1/2 but listed at 6-5
Dana Barros is 5-9 but listed at 5-11
Harold Miner is 6-3 but listed at 6-5
