I am no LeBron James fan. But isn't it time that he gets that 10th spot over Hakeem with four regular-season MVPs, two finals MVPs, four straight finals and two championships?

Other than that, your list is close to mine.we could squabble over one or two players moving up or down one or two spots, but it's pretty darn close.

Jerry West wouldn't place himself ahead of Kobe Bryant and placing Kobe behind Hakeem is also weak.

In fact, Kobe Bryant's career sans Shaquille O'Neal compares favorably to the entire career of Hakeem.

I personally rank all-time greats in tiers it's ISH though so it has to be a top 10 :lol
To be clear my tier 1 includes: Kareem, MJ, Wilt, Russell, Magic and Shaq. Tier 2 would consist of: Bird, Duncan, Kobe, Hakeem, LeBron, Baylor, West and Oscar.

No it doesn't and the last time this argument was brought forward, it was quickly shut down. By all means, prove it. :applause:

For the record 94-95 Hakeem is a better player than Kobe ever was and his title runs were more impressive than anything Kobe has ever done in the playoffs.

For the record 94-95 Hakeem is a better player than Kobe ever was and his title runs were more impressive than anything Kobe has ever done in the playoffs.

I am not taking anything away from Hakeem because he's an all-time great player and he's ranked 11th on my all-time list. His performances in those championship runs was quite impressive, no question.

But also let's not give him a pass that he happened to win those two titles while Jordan was retired and playing baseball (yes, I know that Jordan came back late in that second year away), so Hakeem never had to go against the best of his era. He escaped Jordan. That tarnishes things a bit, IMO.

But back to Kobe sans Shaq, yes, I could make an argument that he's as great or greater than Hakeem even if we pretend those first eight years with Shaq never happened and that's all that I will include. Kobe and Hakeem each have one MVP, two final MVP's and three final appearances. But Kobe also has more All NBA first team selections without Shaq than Hakeem and more All Defensive teams than Hakeem; and yes, I know that Hakeem won DPOY. Same number of titles, finals, MVP's and finals MVP's for each of them and fewer combined first team selections for Hakeem.

Also, Hakeem came into the league at age 22 years old. His PER from age 22 years old to 36 years old was 24.2 and Kobe's over the same age range is 24.1, so they are a virtual draw there, too.

I am not going to spend all day this. But that is why I said a case could be made. Obviously you disagree, which is fine, but with things being that close by eliminating the Shaq years then it gets easily weighted in Kobe's advantage between the two of them when his first eight years are factored into it.

While I don't believe KG has a case for Top-15, he does for Top-20.

But I agree with you,...how is that funny?

And it's not like Moses brought down a Top-10 list from the mountain with regards to these "lists", either.

I actually have KG top 10, but don't have a problem with people slotting him elsewhere. All comes down to what you value IMO.

If you had him at #1, I would still respect your opinion. You are not only one of the most knowledgable posters here, you also back up your opinions with research.

Again, there is no consensus set in stone.

Really?
Kobe - 2 Rings, 2 FMVP's, and 1 MVP.

Kobe from 05-14 has arguably a more impressive resume than Hakeems entire career

MastaKilla
12-15-2014, 05:31 PM
Kobe 05-13:

8x All NBA 1st team

8x All NBA defense (six 1st team, one 2nd & 3rd team)

2x scoring champ

1x MVP

3 finals

2 rings

2FMVP

Hakeem career:

6x all NBA 1st team

9x all NBA defense (five first team, four second team)

2 finals

2 rings

2 FMVP

1 x MVP

2x DPOY

very comparable. Hakeem got his rings with his biggest competition from the West out, imagine if Lebron 3peated, retired, and then Kobe finally wins some rings. People would never let that go..

I like how people would just type in (I don't want to say no-namers) other names aside from the usual names on the list just to make themselves look/sound more exotic.
