Don't get me wrong, it's still a big disparity, but at least there are only 2 sub 500 playoff teams in the east. There is one sub 500 playoff team in the West

#1 in the East would be tied for 4th in the West.

Toronto - 7-2 vs. West
Washington - 5-1 vs. West

Curious to see how this shifts throughout the season. I wonder if it will get more even or more lopsided by the end of the season

You also have to take into consideration that Eastern Conference teams get to play more games against Eastern Conference teams.

Every fan of western teams that aren't at the very top: but but if we were in the east!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...pathetic. Way to push your teams mediocre to the top I guess...

Sub 500 playoff teams in the brutal West? Say it ain't so!

No, it's not.
Cnosidering a couple weeks ago, Jabbar made a thread showing that first place in the East would be 7th in the West, I'd say it's a step in the right direction.

West is still way more top heavy, but at least the East has 4 teams that can make things interesting. I don't think any team in the East can win a chip, but at least the last two rounds of the East should be competitive

Any team under Dallas is still a scrub team in the East

not really OKC has played most the year without Durant and Westbrook, they'd be a top 3 seed with them. also, Sacramento would be above .500 if Cousins had been playing lately.

Evening out how?

Lemme put it this way: Which team in the West that has a reasonable shot do you favor the Eastern Conference champ. against?

I just mean they're evening out in win count, and competitiveness. Again, I don't think any team in the East has a shot to win the chip this year, but we should get a more entertaining Eastern playoffs than the last few years. It was always assumed the last 4 years that the Heat would win the east. Now East is a lot more wide open.

The standings earlier this year were just pathetic though. I think that only 2-3 teams in the East were over 500 for a while :biggums:

Oh I see.

Yeah it's a little bit more competitive this year in that there aren't 2 sure fire teams that will be in the ECF. We can't compare that to the West this year though because it's really up for grabs. It's the one year where we'd get like a 7 vs. 5 CF match up and be like: "Yup that makes sense."

I know the NBA is all about stars, and it's one of the only sports, I think, that benefits long term by having less parity that it's competitors. But every now and again we get these years where it's super wide open, and very very exciting. Just knock on wood that injury doesn't rear it's ugly head and we get to see a crazy playoffs.

Also, Cousins and Durant/Westbrook have missed more games then they've played....

But besides that, yeah its kinda even, sort of.

I mean if you want to skew the stats, why not just point out that there are three teams from the East with 17 wins, and 7 teams from the west with 17 wins. Is it even now?

OKC and Sacramento (with a healthy Cousins) would thrash the EC. That's not even really debatable.

When did I say it was completely even? :biggums: I just said it's evening out a little bit, and it is compared to the disaster it was a month ago

LOL @ any team under Dallas is trash. Most people think OKC has a real shot, if not are the favorites, to win the Western Conference.

8 of the top 10 are from the West. Which is even more astounding seeing as they have go through each other to reach the Finals.

Not even close...I posted this in another thread...here it is again:

OKC is hitting their stride and they will catch up with the other top-7 and be 9 games over .500 in no time with the rest of the West. If the West keeps this up (.680 clip), that's 56 wins as an 8th seed. The West is unbelievably stacked.

Meanwhile, if the East keeps up their pace, it will be yet ANOTHER year of the 38-win playoff team.

This year could be the most lopsided East/West we've ever seen because all the "pretenders" (Golden State, Memphis, Houston, Portland, Clippers) are beasting in terms of record. Meanwhile, the Spurs are coasting and resting all their players every few games. The Thunder just got healthy. And Dallas will gel with Parsons and only get better. I can see the 3 contenders (who are currently bringing up the rear) only get better and if the rest of the west continues to play remotely close to what they are now, you could easily have an over-50-win team as the 8th seed, which I'm not sure has ever been done before.

Wait until OKC plays more games. They'll likely be a 50+ win team added into the mix and they aren't currently even in the playoffs.

lol i've made it pretty clear that the West is clearly the better conference, but at least we're not looking at 5 playoff seeds in the east being under 500

and I don't think a team in the East will make the playoffs with 30 wins a la Jordan
