CHICAGO -- New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony admitted before Thursday's shootaround that people close to him are trying to get him to shut things down for a few weeks.

"I have multiple people say kind of just shut it down," Anthony said. "Or just take time off. So just trying to be smart about that."

Anthony said the knee started acting up again in Tuesday night's loss to the Dallas Mavericks and acknowledged that he didn't do much during Wednesday's practice. He wanted to warm up tonight before making a final decision.

"It gets frustrating," he said. "Not knowing what's going to happen kind of with your body. So for me it's just taking it as the days come."

Anthony was hopeful that his knee would feel better with a few more days of treatment and admitted that 'some days are better than others,' as far as the pain in the knee goes. He isn't sure what it would take to finally make the decision to rest it for a while.

"Some days it feels like I can go, some days it feels like I have everything," Anthony said. "The other day it was a little sore in the first half and I didn't have no lift in my shot and in the second half the lift came back a little bit. It's going to be off and on like that."

i dont understand this TRIANGLE TRIANGLE BLABLA TRIANGLE shit anyways. for triangle you need willing passers, didnt you? is anthony a willing passer?

but PJ could be the master of tank. next year, without amare and bargnanis contract and a top5 pick....knicks could be very dangerous

edit: and i love how on knicks fan forums people are hating on dalambert and calderon....while dirk had to play with tem as starters and carried this trash to the 8th in the west. dirty dirk. but dirks 2013-2014 was so fvcking good.

They're going to need a lot more than just a good rookie to even have a winning record. Knicks are as screwed as Brooklyn for a long time.

It'll take time to overcome the decades old culture of defeatism, and getting rid of dead wood is hard to actually accomplish too.

I wish P Jax every good wish because Knix were a great glory of the NBA in his playing days and I'd like to see him go full circle

I just want amare to be better defensively. That's what he really needs to work on.

Hell to the no, son. Dude can't defend worth a lick... regularly abused by every team, every night. He's sitting out tonight; dare I hope something's going down?

LOL hardaway is a bum, and there is only so much that Amare can do on dem knees. They aren't winnin any games without Melo. They couldn't even beat the spurs d-league team without him.

How does one react during a tank? Stop watching? Pretend to still care? Hope we lose? This is all so new. Usually we just suck because we suck, but to put effort into it too...its all so different...

too lazy to dig the Calderon is back thread were i said Melo would go down. he did for a couple games with "back spasms" it was the prelude to the shutdown. The tank script is being followed to the letter.

Fisher been amazing, never seen a coach so sold on tanking.

Not surprised. He's got 12 years in the league, started at 19, and has played in Mid to late April 11 of those 12 years including the Olympics.

If he was playing for the Bulls, he'd be advised to gun for the MVP and a championship.

But hey, keep gettin' dem checks, Melo. :pimp:

Watching Brooklyn is weird, they aren't entertaining (they are really slow and seem to hate playing) and they aren't good enough to root against (if they were real good I'd want to see them lose, but they aren't good and they aren't obnoxious). So nah, not really a good substitute.

Ill still watch games but the reality is this season when the Knicks blow a game it's not that crushing but at the same time a big win isn't that exciting.

Speaking from experience you root for the guys on rookie contracts to play well and hope for competitive losses.

Melo knows what's up...

It's kind of sad.

Lakers couldve had 3 horrible contracts on 1 team. Besides Kobes contract, Imagine if they re-signed Bynum to the max in 2012 if they werent able to trade him for Dwight. Then they couldve signed fat Carmelo for 4 years.
