He doesn't shoot unless he has to and while he may not be the best over all point guard in the league he runs the offence better than anyone else in the league and on a team that already has elite scorers in Dirk and Ellis he is a huge addition. actually Ellis requires the ball in his hands quite a bit to set up his drive and dish style of play. would be interesting to see how this affects his play playing next to a ball dominant guard like Rondo.

If rondo takes an end of shot clock contested jumper after not being able to find an option and Melo takes a contested jump shot with 16 seconds left on the clock while his team mate is wide open one of those players is chucking and one isn't. That's just an example but it totally matters what context a shot is being taken in. You could have said Rondo is an inefficient shooter and then pointed at stats but you went with chucker.

I don't think you've ever really watched him play or realize that his numbers, with extended minutes, do not go up as much as you would think.

Last year, in games where he played 20 or more minutes, he averaged 11/5 on 69% shooting. Those are great numbers for your first big off the bench, but not legit starters numbers.

Not to mention, at 6'9" and 205 pounds, he is very undersized for a center and would not excel as much getting 30+ minutes per game, getting banged up by larger players and spending extended amounts of time on the court against the starters, instead of the back ups.

It sucks to see Wright leave, but Rondo will have a huge impact on the Mavs back court, since he will instantly give them someone who can guard the ball handler on any team (yes, this includes players like James Harden and LeBron, since he has harassed both in the past) and is a guy who will fit into the offensive scheme beautifully.
