My medical insurance through my school recommended me a doctor in their network. I was told the visit is covered under their insurance. Now months later they send me the bill to pay the full amount. I'm so frustrated right now I don't know what to do.:(
I'm really broke right now and don't plan to pay it. I don't even care about my credit. F*ck it. This is bullshit. How can they get away with this scam? It was a check up. I pay the school 600.00 a term and they don't even cover a check up?
What can I do?

wow damn man thats ****ed up how much is the checkup,
hopefully its not those 1000$ ones lol
make phone calls, talk with the insurance manager, write emails, send letters, all that tedious bullshit.
also, request the policy statement from the insurance.
read the terms and see if it covers it.
if there's coverage, then you have a fight. if there's no coverage for the checkup (which doesn't make sense, but who knows), then they probably got you.

$418.00
The claim calls it a preventative appointment. Of all the things not to pay for. I think it's illegal under Obamacare to not cover such appointments. Not sure though. I wrote them a long email. Going to call tomorrow. I don't need this stress.
I was supposed to go to another appointment later this month. I wanted to get some tests done but now I'm not going to go until this is fixed. Insurance companies are hell.

I'm almost certain I did read that before making the appointment. Also, I went to reread it tonight and it says it's not available. Is that that even legal?:oldlol:

That's tough bro. Your doctor and his staff are suppose to act on good faith and make surethey refer you to doctor your insurance covers. However, it is also your responsibility to check if that doctor falls within your insurance plan. I have Cigna and they have a website online where I can login, type in the doctor I am looking for and see if they fall under my insurance plan. Other things that could happen is that the doctor could have been in the network one day and then the next for whatever reason your insurance dropped him from your network when you visited, which screws you. The doctors staff are suppose to verify stuff, but ultimately it falls on you to double check.
Like someone said earlier, just make calls, send emails out, etc and see if you can get this shit sorted it out.

There is a new appeals process to get your insurance to pay for shit that they give you shit about.
But in your case you have to see what's covered and what's not, who knows what type of plan you have. Some plans cover checkups and some may not.
I have a lot of friends who hate obama and bought into the bullshit from their insurers about grandfathering in so they can have the policies of their old plans without "obama care ruining it" :oldlol: :oldlol:
$418 isn't the end of the world, and most if not all hospitals will allow you to go on a payment plan with no issue whatsoever.
