We did the 100 shots challenge, how bout a 100 pushups challenge?

Attempt to do 100 pushups in a row without stopping, and post the results, how far can you go?

I will try to get a vid up soon.

I hate push up competitions, for the simple fact everyone does them differently. I can't count the number of times that someone has said I can do 60 push ups no stopping, and the form was more shaking on the spot than actually doing a full up and down push up.

Bench press contest your own body weight would be a far better idea. Set the guidelines to it having to touch your chest and that way everyone is on a even playing ground, unless you have an 8 foot wingspan. Then you're screwed. :oldlol:

Chest has to touch the ground, your face should be facing forward (not looking straight down at the ground), and you have to lock your arms out all the way to fully be "up". Back should be straight as a board, not arched. How does that sound? If you have lousy form or start half assing after a certain number of reps it'll just be seen in the video and will be open to criticism.

I know hand spacing effects which muscle group gets worked but that I couldn't care less about, just pick one spot for your hands and stay in that spot the duration of the attempt. If someone re-positions it'll be seen in the video.

No period of rest or pauses should be taken, keep the reps going the entire time. The videos by nature should be under 2 minutes for 100 attempts. Since most of us probably can't do 100 pushups I'm guessing most peoples videos will be under 1 minute.

Bench press I'm not sure would work because how will you know people aren't just fibbing about their weight? Though I do have a bench and I'm open to that idea I think pushups will be easier for everyone to do. The posting of video will leave anyone open to criticism if they didn't follow the guidelines.

My best is 48 pushups in a minute. Probably wouldn't be able to go past 50-60 in a row. 100 pushups in a row is pretty strong. Props to anyone who can do it.

Way back when I was in basic, the smallest and skinniest kid could do the most push ups. He did more than 100 in a minute.

Nice find. I will more than likely do this sometime this week.

See how I go. Think I should do okay since I have decent static strength, so the hold at the bottom won't bother me too much.

Bicep curls are a waste of time unless its at the very end of a workout for a few sets. I think pull ups are the way to go. 30 is a good goal for most people I bet. Form should be proper and slow and absolutely no movement of your lower half (kicking the legs, swinging the back, etc.).

135 is enough to suck, but the song is more about how long can you suffer before stopping.

Death by Back Squat is a more fun squat challenge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5sdy0dAWXQ
225 is the normal weight, the guy in the video does quite an impressive showing considering 315 was on the bar.

curls are not a waste of time if you want big arms

30 pullups in the way you described (slow, no back swinging and kicking the legs) im interested to see if anyone can do it.. i mostly do lat pulldowns nowadays but i might try to max out on pullups on wednesday

I do 100 squats (all the way to the floor, old man asian squat) and 50 pushups a day. Not in a row though - but usually sets of 20's for the squats and 20, 15, 10, 5 for the pushups. I'm in excellent health shape and so-so aesthetic shape.

Could easily do a lot more but would prefer to live longer and be healthier. Extra working out is just an unnecessary stress on the body.

Triceps are 3 times the size, so focus on them instead then. Biceps are too small to put much effort into and they get worked out hard when you're doing back exercises like lat pulldowns and pull ups. I know I can do 20 pull ups as I said because that's how I start my back day, but 30 is a stretch, that's why it's a goal.

If you can do 30 real DEADHANG pullups, then you are a strong ass mother****er or you're ridiculously light.

Don't have a shot at 100 push ups. Maybe 50-60 max of decent form.

But like I said, I'd be happy to do a bodyweight bench press one. I did one just now at the gym for the first time in a while. I'm 215lbs or there about right now, and got 20 out of 225lbs. One more than last time at that weight I think. Can't remember exactly.

If anyone wants to make a thread or competition for that, I'd be happy to compete. I'm probably at a disadvantage considering my weight, but whatever, all in good fun.

I broke a rib last basketball game 3 weeks ago pushups currently hurt, trying to heal up I would like to get a video up once I can do them again. I certainly won't be able to do a hundred but I'll do as many as I can.
