Mike Budenhowzer

Jeff Teague - good young pg career-high 16.8 ppg 7.0 apg
Kyle Korver - arguably the best european american player in the NBA today and one of the undisputed greatest shooters of all time
Demarre Carrol - excellent system player plays to his strengths, career-highs across the board
Paul Millsap - ppl said his allstar was a fluke he is disproving, still great post game, strong 3pt shooter and somehow LEADING THE LEAGUE IN STEALS
Al Horford - Rock and foundation since the 3rd pick after KD finally getting back to his best, dominating in the recent wins over bulls, cavs, rockets

Dennis Schroder - potential GREAT young pg, excellent court vision decison maker
Shelvin Mack - great system player, great shooter, selfless role player
Mike Scott - young athletic wing, no ceiling
Elton Brand - OG veteran big, bang with the best of em on any given night
Kent Bazemore - young sg trying to make a name, decent player
Pero Antic - solid 3pt shooting center, plays with heart
John Jenkins - solid 3pt shooting role player
Thabo Sefalosha - excellent 12th man, non-offensive wing defender

its not about the PLAYERS or their STATS its the CULTURE of BASKETBALL EXECUTION that has been undeniably very successfully implemented.

this is a world of difference from the Mike Woodson/Larry Drew Hawks

the ONLY asterik i see is wondering just HOW MUCH BETTER they could have been... had they not traded Lou Williams....

19-7 heading into a monday matchup with the Rondo-Mavericks

Same thing csn be debated about the other 4 of the top 5 teams in the East, just with different reasons.

Record-wise they're tied for second. Which is still better than I thought they'd be, I'll admit. I'm still figuring at season's end ATL is behind Cleveland, Chicago, and Washington with Cleveland and Washington in the Conference final.

Atlanta are

0-2 vs Toronto
1-1 vs Cleveland
1-0 vs Chicago
1-0 vs Washington

That's a 3-3 record vs top Eastern teams. Meanwhile..

Cleveland are 5-3
Toronto are 4-3
Chicago are 1-2
Washington are 1-3

Idk what conclusion your'e drawing from this, none of those records really stand out and the sample size is too small to mean much anyway.

competing and winning in the league gets much tougher when you do away with the one and done.

You got me. The sample size is certainly proportional to the timing of the thread.

And while sometime /ventional wisdom says that for a young team, maybe an extra game or two may deem beneficial experience wise.

A team like this also have a much better chance at winning and advancing by closing out early.

Cavs have a completely new nucleus. Bulls have added Gasol and are adjusting to having Rose back. Wiz now have Pierce, Nene is back. A lot of teams could use some gelling that the East looks more wise-open than it should right now. Least let's wait until we hit the trade DL & AS break. Lots can change between now and then.

Yea. It would be a great time for the hawks coaching staff to try and figure out the rest of the East.

the pressure of the sample size. Applied.

The Hawks need another rotation player.

Had them pegged as a sleeper team who overachieve at the beginning of the season. They've definitely exceeded my expectations...

Post-season success is mostly about match-ups, who stays healthy, and peaking at the right time. The Hawks can cause trouble vs some Eastern star-studded teams when it comes to matchups (assuming nothing changes via trades.) Health remains a question mark. Peaking at the right time remains a question mark.
