You are twisting things here though, just because some of the upper families had mixed genes does not mean the society was not african. They regularly sent away for partners from other nations at the time. Tut's DNA was also under question of being messed up as there was an uprising at the time it was taken iirc. If they know you personally I guarantee they judge you as an individual. However it is absolutely natural human discourse to question basic trends that are observable in GROUPS that differ from ones own.

Its like one of those images that is made up of a thousand different, unrelated images specifically but creates one large, discernable picture. Whether its race, religion, gender, orientation, political affiliation, etc if the totality forms a particular "picture" people can see it. Its stupid to blame people for talking openly about what they can plainly see from groups as a collective entity, even if they understand every individual is not the same. Which is why in interpersonal situations people are much less likely to care about race. The protests aren't solely because of these recent deaths. This is built off decades of real and perceived injustices that happen daily. Unfortunately you get the best of intentions and the worst from these types of things. You will also get those for and against profiting off of the positives and negatives. People from africa work very hard to come to america to build lives. I have known 2 black immigrants (one from nigeria one from Cameroon) who brought their families to live in america and both have been very successful.

The truth is most black people despite what some might say realize that all americans, including african americans, live very well in america in terms of freedom and economic opportunities, relative to 99% of the world. People who actually face overwhelming oppression/ zero opportunities for success tend to work very hard to move away. Eg. African's in many parts of africa, Asians in many parts of asia, arabs in many parts of the middle east, latinos in many parts of latin america, etc

America has net immigration. People choose to come to america because it currently is great. If people were actually being oppressed in america and not just hyperbolic whining they would be trying to move away. Many african's dream of coming to live in current america.

Any country with net immigration (eg america) has far more good qualities than bad qualities. Humans are logical, they will try to move if they are being oppressed. Also no one would move to a country where the repression they will face would be a significant factor.

Criticizing specific actions and people who happen to be black doesnt necessarily equate to racism.

Also racism is always going to exist in a free country. There will always be people that believe stupid ideas. the key is to lower its impact as much as possible. 2014 america has already lowered the impact of racism as much as possible imo.

What else can be done?

in the civil rights era many wrongs needed to be righted.
Off the top of my head:
1. lynchings needed to be stopped.
2. black people need to be allowed to attend the same schools and receive the same education as whites
3. racial Segregation needed to be stopped. Eg. same facilities, the ability to live wherever you want.
4. White neighborhood associations needed to be forced to stop preventing blacks from moving to white areas.
5. Impossible tests needed to be removed as a prerequisite for voting. I have tried some of the sample tests, and they were purposely designed to cause people to fail them.
6. black people need to be allowed the chance to become doctors, scientists lawyers, politicians, etc (the most famous american scientist is probably neil degrasse tyson)
7. forcing blacks to sit at the back of the bus

All of these problems have been solved as much as possible in a free country that allows freedom of thought and not become a communist country with equality of result.

IMO at this point there is not that huge of a disadvantage to being black. the old chris rock joke about how no white person would want to be him even with his money because he is black, doesnt really apply any more. there are literally dozens upon dozens of black men I would rather be. Eg. Lebron, durant, Chris rock, Obama, Kobe, etc.
