Everyone likes to compare Michael Jordan to Kobe Bryant, which I have no problem with, but how well do you think MJ would have done if he didn't take 2 years off to rest and recoup?

People are mad that Kobe is taking 2 games off?

This is all hypothetical breh. You don't know how things play out if he actually does play in those years. What if he gets injured and misses a year? You can't say this for a fact.

If MJ didn't rest and played out his entire career, after the 3peat, he would have probably only had one more ring max in his career. We saw how playing those long ass seasons affected Pippen while MJ was resting. If he continued on, MJ would have failed.

Kobe didn't have to rest. Played since he was 18. Played 3 consecutive long ass seasons to 3peat and did it again with a back to back, 3 straight Finals appearance.

And this. Look at how Lebron has declined after 4 straight Finals.

He would have 4peated in 95. Just look how close the Bulls sans Jordan were against the Knicks, and how close the subsequent series were. Add the GOAT and it's a wrap, especially as the Rockets were Hakeem and a bunch of nobodies.

Maybe lose in 95 against Magic. Maybe would have been different if Jordan didn't have to come back with less than 20 games to go. But for sake of argument let's take the worst case scenario.

Reboot in 96 and 3 peat again.

Worst case scenario they are too exhausted in 98 after 7 deep playoff runs and they lose 98. No biggie, Jordan gets a 4peat (not been done since Russell) and a B2B to his name. Not to mention that he'd have still beasting in 94 and 95, so would have probably snatched an MVP or 2, and would have higher overall stats and totals.

And most importantly he'd still be ahead of Kobe in the all time scoring list at this point, so we'd have to suffer watching Kobe jack up more 25ppg 35% games to chase the dream.

Imagine how good Kobe would be right now with two years off in his prime to recoup.

People always overlook that when it comes to MJ.

It was easier for Kobe playing through than it was for Jordan to come back after being away so long. The fact that he was able to leave and comeback and STILL dominate is proof of his greatness. Love how Kobe Stan's try to twist the "resting" argument in their favor. The resting worked against Jordan if anything.
