Who do you think the Cavs will likely make a move for within the upcoming weeks ? I have heard it could be either Mozgov,Monroe,Hibbert,Koufas,Brandon Wright or Brook Lopez. Which one is the most realistic and would be the best fit on Cleveland ?

Well thats not happening so I doubt it will be Hibbert cause I hear the Cavs are hesitant giving up Waiters and Thompson. However if they can trade Waiters and Spare parts and get Allen to join at all star break than the Cavs would be in business.

Could see them going for O'Quinn, Henson, Ed Davis, Mozgov, Koufos, or Black. Doubt O'Neal goes to CLE. Who knows if Okafor can even get onto a court now, but if he can, he's likely on their radar. What about Miroslav Raduljica? Not sure if he has an out-clause in his current contract, but he'd be worth a look. Had decent rim protection stats for the Bucks last year.
As far as most likely...no clue. Depends on if they're willing to give up Waiters + MEM pick. If they didn't botch the Deng trade last season, that Kings pick would be really helpful right about now

I heard they were in talks for Mozgov or Koufos. They would trade their trade exception for one of them. I think Mozgov is the best realistic option. He can protect the paint and that's what the Cavs ask for. And later in the year, they'll go after Okafor.

They already made one push to get Mozgov prior to the start of the season, but were rebuffed. Mozgov played for Blatt overseas and would be the best case scenario at this point. I think it's becoming a bit of a longshot, though.
Brook Lopez is another guy whose name has come up in recent talks. Not sure how that really helps the defensive situation, though.

Idk why nobody has tried to sign Okafor for cheap. Give him a shot. Dude once was a great defender. Also are Byron Mullins or Gustavo Ayon playing anywhere? They aint getting Hibbert or Lopez without giving up Waiters or Tristan.

He can't play right now:
Okafor is unlikely to sign anywhere until midseason as he continues to recover from his herniated disk.
Apparently, Cleveland and Miami have expressed interest in him though.

The Brook Lopez - Kevin Love tandem on defense in the NBA, are you kidding me? They will get murdered in the paint every day and night. Zero rim protection there...

The alternative right now is Brendan Haywood with a splash of Alex Kirk. It's not exactly like the Cavs have tons of options.
Yes, Lopez would be another weak link in the defensive chain, but there would be ways to work around the issue of having both he and Love on the floor together. Just start Thompson and bring Lopez off the bench.
I've actually really liked the Thompson/Love combination on the floor together. They seem to have good chemistry together and don't get in each others' way. And while Lopez wouldn't help a ton defensively, he would add another pretty nice weapon for Blatt to use in that screen-heavy offense.

Dalembert into the Cavs trade exception. Will save Knicks about $9 million in luxury tax.

Thompson's way too small to consistently play starting center.
He's being doing it all year. He was the backup center playing 26+ minutes a night at the 5 prior to Varejao getting hurt. Now, he's the starting center.
And, for the record, he's been really good in that role. The times he has struggled in his career have almost always happened when they attempted to play him at the 4. His best moments almost always come with him at center.
In today's NBA, he can handle the position without any problem and I say that having watched every game he has played in his career.

That seems like it is the last resort for the Cavs. If all else fails, they'll probably end up with Dalembert.

it will happen. Their DPE from Andy has to go towards somebody on their last year of contract.

Well, we'll likely find out together. I can tell you this... Of the teams we're likely to see in the EC playoffs, none of the centers scare me much offensively except for maybe Horford and he's not an overpowering kind of player.
It's not like Patrick Ewing is waiting for him down the line.

Thompson is a bit of a ghost if he isn't getting loads of offensive boards in a game.
The cavs really don't use him at all offensively, so if he isn't getting loads of rebounds, he's kind of invisible.
Varejeo on the other hand...

The Cavs have been markedly better this year with Tristan as opposed to Varejao when calculating impact while on the floor with the starting lineup. You probably don't notice TT unless he's making those ridiculous hustle plays on offensive rebounds, but he's making an impact.
Unlike Varejao, he can play above the rim and has done so well this year. He's definitely been the recipient of more lobs than anyone on the team. And Tristan is a better defender than Andy at this stage of his career.
Also, Andy and Love had some problems coexisting together. Love's best extended moments this year mainly have happened playing alongside Tristan.
Calculated in mid-December
+/- per 100 possessions
Tristan: On-court: +8.7 On-Off: +10
Andy: On-court: +0.4 On-Off: -7.6
Irving-James-Marion-Love-Varejao lineup:
111 ORtg, 103 DRtg, net +8 per 100 possessions
Irving-James-Marion-Love-TT lineup:
124 ORtg, 96 DRtg, net +28 per 100 possessions

tristan is great on the offensive glass, but i dont trust him to keep the bulls bigs off of the glass. and as far as centers go, his shot blocking is below average.
andy's defense has slipped a lot in recent years though, so its not the downgrade it would have been a couple seasons ago.
i still think we need a starting center if we are to have serious title aspirations, if that means giving up waiters and/or picks, so be it.

Problem is, there aren't a lot of "starting centers" out there to be had. I don't think Tristan is a downgrade from Andy at all. In fact, I had been calling for his being moved to the starting position for a couple weeks now. I still think it would have benefited both guys and the team had it happened about 10 games ago. Guess we'll never know.
The problem isn't going from Varejao to TT. The problem is whoever was the third guy is now the second. And that's truly scary... much moreso than whether or not we lose anything with TT in there with the starters.

Send Dalembert to the Hawks.
I would try (if I were Cavs) Kevin Love and Dion Waiters for Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. Get them to throw in Ezeli too. Would never happen and wouldn't help Warriors anyways lol

Waiters has been playing like he knows he is trade bait lately. Been playing really well, maybe these rumors are what he needed . In all honesty though, our bench is so thin, I expect us to use a pick or trade exception to get an expiring big from a lottery team. We aint giving up the bench this year. Dalembert or Brandan Wright are probably most likely and someone off the market like KMart or Okafor to back them up.

interesting.
To me, Varejao is most useful when the team is already defined as a great defensive team. He isn't a man to anchor an entire defense with.

Imagine if Birdman decided to follow Lebron, although he wouldn't be ideal he would at least provide a threat of shot blocking and already has some chemistry with Lebron.
