John Stockton made it to two NBA finals and several wcf. Cp3 can't hold his jock til he gets past 2nd round.

A 5 time Champion, a 2 time champion & best player on earth, and the best offensive player on earth are all winners. (Well not quite there yet for durant). Chris Paul is on a stacked team with a coach who has a chip. He has ZERO excuses between 2013-15 to not make a WCF if he is as good as everyone says he is. NONE.

If he retires today, a slightly better version of the Tim Hardaway/Kevin Johnson/Mark Price PG trio of the early 90s.

So we're talking around Tiny Archibald level. Which is still HOF level.

Right below the Paytons/Kidds/Nash level.

Lol... Stockton had Malone and Hornacek. Karl Malone was the best PF and arguable 2nd best player in 2nd half of the 90s. Stockton's supporting cast >>>>>> CP3's.

Where do you rank CP3's peak around 08-09 among other PG peaks?

Blake Griffin sucks? And crawford is every bit as good as hornacek was. Plus Jordan down low and a few other solid pieces on the team. CP3 of 08-09 was amazing. incredible. generational talent. post injury he is just a really good all star who will make the hall of fame and never did anything in the playoffs.

Malone is much better offensive player and defender than BG. Give me Hornececk. He's more efficient player, superior shooter, and defender. You thinking CP3's supporting cast is even close to Stockton's 2nd half 90s supporting cast, is pretty fvcking laughable. :lol

Agreed. Hornecek has got to be one of the most underrated guards.

And ofc Malone was a lot better than Griffin. And Sloan is an all timer too (something Doc isn't close to being), even if it's for his ability to redefine offensive schemes.

That said, I'd still probably take Stockton over Paul. Grittier, and probably more effective on a good team. You also know how to build a winning team around him. Paul's game has too many facets to say, "Here, give him this and you're good to go."

Paul is a top 5 PG ever imo. He made those New Orleans teams, and he's dragged Griffin's weight around in the Playoffs for a few years. How people think he's the second best player on his team is beyond me.

I never said they were even close relative to the competition. Utah was pretty damn good. Not Jordan beatable good though...:D

That said, a generational talent - Which I believe CP3 is even moreso than Stockton... shows his shortcomings even more. The dude should be legit top 3 PG of all time. The point I was trying to make is his team is GOOD ENOUGH to at least make the WCF if he is this amazing player that everyone knows he should be. problem is he just hasnt done it yet. It is very hard for your best player to be under 6'3". History pretty much shows that.

He desperately needs to win something or get deeper in the playoffs or he's gonna get underrated badly. Nobody will care about his numbers if he doesn't win anything. There's a certain point in players' careers where how good they are becomes irrelevant to where they're ranked and only winning matters. CP is at that point right now. He needs to WIN. LAC needs to improve defensively for that to happen.

Before his injury he was literally on LeBron's level.

Since then, LeBron has raised his game even higher and Durant has surpassed him as well.

His biggest mistake was coming to the historically stacked Western Conference. Had he stayed in the East like LeBron, he would've had an easy path to the ECF every year and probably would have less of a reputation as a playoff underachiever.

Based on play? Second best PG ever.

Based on team results? Considerably less than that (but dear God, anyone comparing him unfavorably to Nash should be banned forever-- how do you people not comprehend that Nash is the product of what is analagous to what surfers call "the perfect wave" and absolutely NOTHING more than that?)

He's had a bizarre career and if he finished without any type of success it'll be real hard to place him.

GOAT Choker if Clippers lose Game 7.

ClipperRevival
05-15-2015, 03:23 AM
Clips lose game 7 and his legacy will take a pretty big hit. Putting up great numbers in tne regular season is great and there is no doubt he impacts your team in so many positive ways. But the way he keeps choking away in crucial moments in the playoffs does not make him look good. I would hate for him to be labled as a choker because he was so great the other 99% of the time and deserves a better legacy. But history will judge him accordingly if he continues to falter in the playoffs.
