Harden this year averaging 27 PPG on 42% shooting. Durant last year with 32PPG on 51% shooting. The league just ain't the same without KD.

It's funny cause Westbrook is averaging well over 1PPG more than Harden on 6 less minutes per game... and with a higher FG% as well.

Yet you don't see Westbrook getting tons of media hype.

I dont know how Russ is behind Harden in MVP voting and why hes more popular. Maybe its the market w/ the endorsements and sht that Russ doesnt give a sht about. But hes a way better player than Harden and way more exciting sht is dumb

Westbrook is always going to be overshadowed by Durant. Durant is better player but Russ is a better competitor. Can't wait for Russ to get the respect he deserves.

Record? OKC's record with Westbrook has been great.

The MVP is a hype award, and even with awards like the damn X-Mas MVP where it's clear that Westbrook was the most deserving, Wade wins it because of a narrative. :oldlol:

Overall record

Stats plus record is all that matters for mvp. Everybody should know this by now.

Russ has only played 17 games so far, while Harden's played 28. And Harden's led his team to a far better record (because Durant and Westbrook have spent so much time out). Russ just needs to play more games and drag OKC to a respectable record to enter the mix. His play and stats certainly warrant it, but they're not going to give the MVP to a lower seed.

I don't believe many people believe Harden > Westbrook, if at all. Westbrook is a top 5 player easily (I think top 3 now), Harden is top 10 but his playoff chokes are undeniable and must be factored.

So when OKC plays like garbage without Westbrook, he gets punished for it?

Okay :oldlol:

I'm not saying it's right but that's how it works. You need a top 5 record to be in the mix.

People seem to dismiss Harden's choking in the playoffs. Just imagine if Durant or Lebron had playoff runs similar to Harden.

not since MJ has the leading scorer won the championship the year they led the NBA in scoring. it's a sad award to be honest. an empty victory. championship is the only award that really matters. i'm sure all these leading scorers would gladly exchange their leading scoring title if they could win a championship that year.

Russell has missed too many games and his teams record is still not good enough for the playoffs. Also even though he has been on a tear since coming back Harden has matched his production. Harden is averaging over 30 points on 45% shooting since Westbrook returned.

So not only has Harden matched his production since returning but he has played all season while carrying his injury-depleted team to one of the top seeds in the West. Rockets are healthy now so it will be interesting to see if they can go on a nice run.

His usage rate is also a ridiculous 41%, which means when he's on the floor, he constantly has the ball in his hand.

Compare minutes if you want, but when you look at the usage rate as well, Westbrook has the ball more than Harden in six less minutes per game. Will Durant allow that?

The minute disparity doesn't count if Westbrook is chucking up 11 more shots per 100 possessions than Harden lol, he should be averaging a lot of points.
