The East still has three playoff teams below .500, but the teams at the top have earned their stripes. The top four teams in the Eastern Conference - Toronto, Atlanta, Washington and Chicago - are 28-11 against the West.

Are they picking on the Jazz, Lakers and Wolves? A little bit, but the East's top four are also 10-7 against West playoff teams and 4-2 against the West's top four.

And now, we actually have three East teams in this week's top five. The Bulls are the first team outside of Oakland to be ranked No. 1 this season, having won nine of their last 10 games, with wins over Portland, Memphis, Toronto and Washington in that stretch.

But I thought West was vastly superior conference? Not even close?

The West a superior conference, just not vastly superior.

The East isn't 'historically' weak. This is just something people have continued to bot-spam because it was true last year in large part due to injuries, and the West is very competitive. Apparently ever EC since 1998 has been 'historically' weak.

It'd be more accurate to say that the West is incredibly deep, possibly more so than ever before. But the East has some legit teams.

For example, I could see the Bulls take down any WC team in the finals. Possibly the Cavs too if they get their act together defensively.

West teams are overrated.

The Cavs? Are you ****ing kidding me? They would lose in 4 or 5 games to pretty much any of the playoff teams out West.

Again, THEY HAVE NO GOOD DEFENDERS. They're not going to "get their act together defensively". They do not have the personnel.

Getting their act together could be translated to getting the personnel through trades and signings.

People saying the West is so much better than the East are just parroting what they hear others say or have an agenda to make their team look better. Any top team in the east can beat any top team in the west in a 7 game series.

Raptors are 9 and 2 against the west. So the other three teams are 19 and 9.

The East was considered the better conference until the 1990s rolled around. 80s East was very deep.

Celtics
Sixers
Bucks
Pistons
Hawks
Bulls

Than by the 90s, that all changes to the West.

Rockets
Spurs
Lakers
Blazers
Suns
Jazz

and keeps going to this day.

East the past 15 seasons has been top heavy, than a bunch of bottom feeders. In the West you have 48 and 49 win teams missing the playoffs.

Top heavy teams

Early to mid 2000s Nets
Pacers (entire 15 years, with a drop off in the Danny Granger solo era.)
Pistons until about 2010
Celtics Big Three era
Cleveland mid 2000s
Miami (2 versions)

Nobody calls the warriors "Oakland." That's like calling the patriots the "foxboro patriots"

What?

This is only talking about 4 teams in the East....there are actually 15 teams in the East.

You know that...right?

There is a large disparity in conference strength.

The West teams don't get up for teams like Tor, Wash, Atl.

The heck are Duncan and Dirk getting hyped for playing Lou Williams and Paul Milsapp for:roll:
