Most NBA players can shoot 3s, it's just they don't have the greenlight.

he's 3-5 shooting from 3 pt range today so far.

I don't think 95% of big men could hit at that clip in an empty gym.

Al Horford is a good 3 point shooter, but he's only attempted 15 3s.

Unskilled big man are the one's that can't shoot well. Most any big man that can shoot the mid range well can definitely hit some 3s.

Hitting 3s consistently in games in not easy for big men.

Also five 3 pt attempts in a game is a lot for a PF. The fact he's making so many is even more impressive.

He's a big man but he's a very soft big man. He couldn't post up on you or I.

There was a videoclip in which Ben Wallace swished 5 straight 3 pointers in practice. You are an idiot if you think 95% of NBA big men cannot make long shots in an empty gym.

Was it an extended edited clip run over 8 hours?

Yes they can.

Where's the video of the White Mamba draining 3 after 3?

I would say at least half of the 4's and 5's in the league could shoot 40% in an open gym, its just during the flow of a game, they're usually not spotting up unguarded.

Also, the even the biggest goofiest big guys have superb handles compared to your average Joe. You don't ever see it, but they do.

White Mamba isn't really a bigman though. I'm thinking of guys over 6'10''

Yea...they probably can. I watched a long retired Tree Rollins wet long jumpers like layups. And Tree wasnt anything close to a shooter.

Bad NBA shooters are still good shooters. Dude wasnt lying about Ben Wallace. Ive seen him hit 5-6 straight threes warming up.

I watched Sam dalembert make 13 of 14 corner threes warming up before game 5 in San Antonio last year. Virtually everyone in the nba can shoot warm up jumpers

Yeah I can see that. I remember Dampier hitting that corner 3 against the Spurs in the regular season.

Must be mental when they get into the game and can't hit bunnies from 2 feet away

The thing is, it's not easy to get a good shot off even against an above average streetballer. It should be extremely difficult to get quality shots off against NBA defenders. You keep saying like it's nothing. :facepalm

You cant generalize like that. I would bet on an average shooter playing at the YMCA over guys like DeAndre Jordan, Andre Drummond or Ben Wallace. Theyre just not good shooters.

Any good shooter would never airball that many free throws or totally brick it on either side of the rim everytime they go to the line

Kblaze8855

You can't really look at free throws. There have been too many solid shooters who were bad free throw shooters for mental reasons. I'm reasonably sure Bruce Bowen shot better from three than the free throw line one year.

Free throw are a somewhat mysterious thing. Guys like Nick Anderson could shoot then miss four in the finals and was seeing a sports psychiatrist for years because he couldn't shoot fts anymore.

Big mental side to that.

Hell Rondo is shooting like 34 percent from the free throw line. But we all saw him go toe-to-toe with Kevin Durant playing horse shooting 3's when it wasn't in game. .

free throws are all about repetition. if you miss them it's because you don't do enough, and if you feel you don't do enough then you won't have faith in your work, and if you don't have faith in your work then come game time you will second guess yourself, and when you second guess yourself you will make small adjustments to your form/technique that aren't needed, and when you make those unnecessary adjustments then you will miss them.

Also, big men are usually slow shooters, seemingly open shot can easily turn to a contested one.

And for free throws, I agree it's mostly mental, that's why they're the best measurement for clutchness imo. Player actually has a lot of time to think about it before he shoots, so it's much easier to get shook.
