Mavericks get

Brandon Bass (expirer)

Celtics get

Raymond Felton (expirer)
2nd round pick

The Mavs get another big to add to their rotation in their run for a championship this year.

The Celtics get some cap relief, a small trade exception, and a 2nd round pick.

The Celtics should do this as a last resort if they can't get a first round pick for Bass.

Bass expires after this season, so there is little motivation for a team to give up a first round pick.

Second rounders are more realistic from a contending team. Also 2 2nd round picks can be swapped out into a late first round pick.

Teams that are built to win now or over the cap next year can get desperate and give up those late first round picks. Celtics can wait. Getting 2nd round pick and Felton is a desperate move and should only be done as a last resort.

It might be nice to send him to a good team just as a courtesy to Bass but Ainge hag better be focused on bigger assets than second round picks of he's going to make the Celtics relevant.

Big man rotation is too crowded though, not that we need Felton either but Bass is taking minutes from players who need them. Felton you can bury on the bench.

Personally I'd be focusing on trying to get rid of 3-4 players into 1 to round out the rotation. Doubt we'd get much without attaching a pick but Bass, Crowder and Nelson are vets of use to teams like the Clips, Thunder etc. Worth attempting a Jeremy Lamb reclamation project? Reggie Bullock (is the only young Clips player I know)?

Suppose we could swing for DeAndre or another expiring player. If we lose the 27th pick in 2016 for a shot at re-signing him it'd be worth it
