“All the precautionary measures weren’t taken to ensure the safety of that weapon,” Miller said later.
Well no shit.
I'm not sure what kind of moron thinks it's necessary to have a gun on them at all times. This is f*cking Idaho, not Iraq. I mean, I have guns too, but at no point in my life have I ever found myself in a situation where I said, "Wow! I really wish I had a gun right now!"
Blackfoot, ID, and you don't feel safe without a gun. Give me a f*cking break. It's sad to say that she was killed by her own irresponsibility and recklessness. Even sadder that a 2 year old will not only grow up without a mother, but will have to live with the fact that he shot and killed her.
Unreal.
EDIT:
[Veronica] wasn’t carrying a gun because she felt unsafe. She was carrying a gun because she was raised around guns.
Wow, that's even worse, if that's even possible. Glad carrying loaded guns was just so fcking important to you. I guess if you're raised around them you are powerless to go anywhere without a loaded firearm, even if you know it's totally unnecessary. You just what, really like knowing it's there? Like WTF?
Pretty difficult to garner sympathy for this woman.

How does a 2 year old turn off the safety to even shoot the weapon? Don't tell me this women was walking around with a loaded gun and the safety off :facepalm

kinda ironic, she must be loving that gun right about now
but sad story when you get gunned down by your 2 year old son
people need to get more guns to protect them selves, and toddlers need to strap up now since adults will be out for them after this incident
How about don't be an irresponsible dumbass and leave your gun loaded and lying around where a toddler can get his hands on it? This is no sadder than the thousands of other idiotic ways that people manage to get themselves killed each and every year. Just another candidate for the Darwin awards:

Your sympathy is misplaced, though i don't actually believe it is sympathy at all: you seem to be gloating more than anything.

I feel for the kid. When he's older he is gonna feel horrible, and it's not his fault at all.
I don't know how you can be THAT stupid. I bet her husband is so happy he got her that concealed carry purse - maybe he shoulda paid for her to take a firearms safety course instead.

Many pistols don't have safeties in the traditional sense. I know on Glocks, the safety is basically your own finger; you need X amount of force on the trigger pull to fire the weapon, with the idea being that if you are pulling that hard on the trigger you mean to fire it. Revolvers don't generally have manual safeties either. However, in the case of all of these weapons, I don't think a 2-year-old found a gun and cocked it, so it's safe to assume that yes, this woman was rolling with a round chambered. But that's what people who grow up with guns do apparently, they put cocked and loaded guns in their purse when they're out shopping with their 2-year-old.

She didn't put the safety on.
It's like leaving your front door open. No wonder you got robbed. Got only yourself to blame.
Luckily it's her getting shot and not anyone who's innocent.
