New Jersey Nets: 35 - 39 [0GB]
Orlando Magic: 34 - 41 [1.5GB]
________________________________________
Indiana Pacers: 32 - 42 [3GB]
New York Knicks: 31 - 43 [4GB]

The final 2 spots i think are now on lock. Orlando will now see the playoffs, and will probably be versing the top Detroit Pistons first round.

New Jersey are now on a roll, and i dont think where going to be catching them.

Indiana have been in a slump ever since the all-star break, and now are looking to continue their slump till the rest of the season.

New York; once thought to have had a chance to make the playoffs have dropped their last 3 and look like they're out of the race.

Detroit first round, should be an easy series for the Pistons. But im hoping for my Magic to really turn some heads in the first round, maybe take it to 6 games.

Dwight's already said, he wants Detroit first round. I'm thinking of this playoff series to be more of a learning curve for the Magic, not a MUST WIN series. Where packed with so much young talent, and we dont have very much playoff experience. Next season however, im gonna look for a 1st round win because of a more matured team, and a possible signing a SOLID player.

A little history vs. the Grizzlies

The Magic have dropped four straight and eight of nine against the Grizzlies since a 96-91 home win in 2004.

I like the Magic and i hope they win, but I don't know, losing streak against Memphis could continue.

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

Memphis (19-58) at Orlando (34-41), 7PM ET -- STATS reports: The Orlando Magic have little margin for error if they hope to reach the playoffs for the first time in five seasons. The Magic look for a split of their four-game homestand when they host the league-worst Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night. Orlando (34-41) holds the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but is just one game ahead of ninth-place Indiana. The Magic also trail seventh-place New Jersey by one game. Orlando and New Jersey also have a game in hand on Indiana... However, the Grizzlies have lost four straight, including Friday's 116-104 defeat to Golden State. Memphis has allowed 118.5 points per game during their skid and has been outscored by an average of more than 12 points per contest.

Again sorry for the late post.

Orlando 116, Memphis 89 -- The AP reports: Orlando, looking for its first playoff berth in four years, jumped out to a 22-point lead in the first eight minutes of the game and coasted to a 116-89 victory over the Grizzlies on Saturday night. The Magic, who are only 8-14 since the All-Star break, got 31 points and 11 rebounds from Dwight Howard and 15 points apiece from Hedo Turkoglu and Grant Hill in breaking a two-game losing streak and remaining a game ahead of Indiana for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference... The Grizzlies, who have the worst record in the NBA, were without injured starters Damon Stoudamire, Mike Miller and Rudy Gay. Their replacements, Tarence Kinsey, Stromile Swift and Junior Harrington, combined for 22 points on 8-of-24 shooting.

Dwight was a monster today, 31 points, 11 rebounds and shot really well. I think JJ Reddick should of played a little better with 20 minutes playing time, only 8 points and 1 rebound. Oh well still a good win today, hopefully you guys can make the playoffs and beat Detroit or Chicago in the first round. That would be awesome.

JJ Redick, played pretty nice. He's really our only consistent 3point force, and thats what i like so much about him. Brian Hill should seriously consider giving him more minutes, but a measly 10-15 minutes a game is going to completely do nothing to his game.

I'm about 99% sure we've got the playoff spot.

Sadly, Detroit is who we will verse first round. Which is probably a first round lose. But as i said earlier, if we can stretch the series to 6 games. I'll be very happy.

GAME PREVIEW:

Orlando (35-41) at Milwaukee (26-50), 8PM ET -- STATS reports: Road wins have not come easy for the Orlando Magic lately. Getting a victory at the Bradley Center in recent seasons has been even more difficult. Battling for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference, the Magic open a crucial three-game road trip Monday against the Milwaukee Bucks. Orlando (35-41) is trying to earn its first playoff appearance since 2002-03, but hasn't been playing its best basketball down the stretch. The Magic are 8-15 since the All-Star break and have fallen into eighth place in the East, one game back of seventh-place New Jersey and a game ahead of Indiana... The Bucks (26-50) are coming off a heartbreaking 118-113 overtime loss to New York on Saturday. Ruben Patterson, who finished with a team-high 27 points, hit a 3-pointer with 0.9 seconds left in regulation to give Milwaukee a three-point lead. After a timeout, though, Knicks center Eddy Curry responded with a 3 to send the game to the extra period, where the Knicks outscored the Bucks 16-11.

Orlando 117, Milwaukee 94 -- The AP reports: Once Dwight Howard's dunks had disassembled the Milwaukee Bucks' patchwork defense, the Orlando Magic had room to roam outside. Orlando equaled its hottest shooting performance of the season on Monday night, hitting 62.5 percent from the floor in a 117-94 victory over Milwaukee. Hedo Turkoglu scored 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting for the Magic, who are trying to hold onto the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference... The injury-riddled Bucks -- who have been playing without injured center Andrew Bogut and power forward Charlie Villanueva since March 21 -- didn't have a defensive answer for Howard, who had 15 points and 11 rebounds... Trevor Ariza added 16 points for Orlando.

Orlando (36-42) at Philadelphia (33-45), 3PM ET -- STATS reports: With their hold on the Eastern Conference's final postseason spot weakening, the Orlando Magic look to put some distance between themselves and the other playoff hopefuls Saturday when they visit a Philadelphia 76ers team that essentially needs to win out to qualify for the postseason. Orlando (36-42) is in a tight race with Indiana for the last playoff spot in the East, and is also trying to catch New Jersey for seventh place. The Sixers (33-45), meanwhile, are three games behind the Magic with four games remaining... Philadelphia has won three straight, including a 102-94 victory over the Celtics on Wednesday, to improve to 16-9 since the All-Star break. The Sixers shot a season-high 56.2 percent from the field and had six players score in double figures -- four of which had more than 15. Steven Hunter led the Sixers with 20 points and seven rebounds, and Andre Miller added 19 points.

Boston (23-56) at Orlando (37-42), 6PM ET -- STATS reports: Dwight Howard could be just one game away from leading the Orlando Magic to their first postseason appearance since 2003. Howard and the Magic look to do their part to clinch the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference when they host the conference-worst Boston Celtics on Sunday. To secure a playoff bid Sunday, Orlando (37-42) must win this contest and also hope ninth-place Indiana loses to seventh-place New Jersey earlier in the day... The Celtics (23-56) have dropped six straight games to solidify their last-place standing in the East. They clinched the second-worst record in the league with their 104-102 loss to Milwaukee on Friday. Gerald Green scored 21 points and rookie Leon Powe added 18 to help the Celtics climb back from a 13-point halftime deficit. Trailing by two points, Boston stole the ball with 12 seconds remaining, but did not get a shot off.

Orlando (38-42) at Washington (40-40), 7PM ET -- STATS reports: The Orlando Magic became the last team in the Eastern Conference to clinch a playoff spot. The Washington Wizards might be a good candidate to become the first club eliminated from postseason play. The Wizards, who will limp into the playoffs without their two best players, look to end a five-game home losing streak when they face the Magic on Tuesday night. Orlando (38-42) clinched the final postseason berth in the East, and its first since 2002-03, with an 88-86 win over Boston and Indiana's 111-107 loss to New Jersey on Sunday... Washington (40-40), meanwhile, is in sixth place in the conference, but has lost seven of its last eight and is without stars Gilbert Arenas (knee) and Caron Butler (hand). Arenas is unlikely to return unless the Wizards advance deep into the playoffs, while Butler said Monday that he could be ready to play if the team reached the second round.

Lets win some games and bring them into the playoffs.

Washington are undermanned so, this should be a pretty easy game.

Orlando 95, Washington 89 -- The AP reports: Hedo Turkoglu scored 26 points, and Dwight Howard added 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Magic. They closed the game with a 7-1 run as the Wizards again stumbled and bumbled in the final minutes without injured All-Stars Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler. Washington has lost eight of nine, six straight at home and could finish anywhere from sixth to eighth, pending the outcomes of Wednesday's games... Backup center Darko Milicic sprained his right ankle fighting for a rebound in the second quarter and was walking on crutches and wearing a protective boot after the game. He'll have an MRI on Wednesday and his status is uncertain for the playoff opener this weekend... Antawn Jamison tried to carry the Wizards on Tuesday with a season-high 48 points, but he got scant help from his teammates. He went 14-for-26 from the field, while the non-Jamison Wizards went 14-for-54.

Detroit hosts Orlando in Game 1 Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m. EDT on ESPN. The Pistons add the new face of Chris Webber to their playoff-tested group of Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace and Tayshaun Prince. Webber was acquired from Philadelphia near midseason. For the Magic, it's all about Dwight Howard. The third-year center who made his first All-Star game with averages of 17.7 points and 12.3 rebounds, is playing in his first playoffs. An interesting subplot could develop with Grant Hill trying to finally get out of the first round of the playoffs against the team he started his career on 12 seasons ago. Detroit swept the season series 4-0.

Game recap:

Detroit 100, Orlando 92 -- The AP reports: The Detroit Pistons tried the Hack-a-Shaq strategy against Shaquille O'Neal and the Miami Heat last postseason. The Pistons implemented the Hack-a-Howard plan on Saturday night, and it paid off. Orlando All-Star center Dwight Howard went only 3-of-11 from the free throw line in his playoff debut, and the entire Magic team missed 18 free throws in a 100-92 loss to the Pistons in Game 1 of the opening-round series... The veteran Pistons calmly converted three-quarters of their free throws and committed only 11 turnovers to Orlando's 21... The Pistons never trailed and demonstrated why they could return to the conference finals for a fifth consecutive season... The Pistons dominated the first quarter, jumping ahead 8-2. They extended their advantage to 25-14 on Billups' jumper just inside the 3-point line with 2 minutes remaining in the period.

For the Pistons, Chauncey Billups went 5-of-13 (plus 11-of-12 free throws) for 22 points, 4 rebounds, 11 assists and 2 steals - plus five turnovers. Richard Hamilton shot 9-of-19 for 22 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Rasheed Wallace had 16 points and 6 rebounds. Tayshaun Prince and Chris Webber each scored 12 on good shooting. As a team Detroit shot 49.3% and 35.7% from three-point range. They won controlled the boards tonight.

For the Magic, Dwight Howard shot 5-of-8 for 13 points, 19 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks - though he had 6 turnovers. Hedo Turkoglu shot 8-of-13 for 17 points, 3 assists and 2 steals. Grant Hill took 8 shots for 14 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Darko Milicic went 5-of-6 for 14 points and 4 rebounds. Orlando was fantastic from the field, shooting 58.1%. But they hit just 50% of their 36 free throw attempts.

AtTheDriveIn's Analysis.

Darko Milicic:

Great game by Darko, he came to play against his former team. He got booed quite a bit, but he didn't let that distract him. Nice pass to Dwight in the last couple of minutes, that really got Orlando going for a bit, but unfortunately their defense collapsed, and Darko made a silly foul on Tayshaun Prince for an and1 opportunity. Oh well, good game by Darko overall.

Jameer Nelson:

I don't have much to say about Jameer, i thought it was yet another dissapointing performance by him, the more i watch him, the more i want him out of Orlando!

Grant Hill:

Ah, the veteran of the team. Played a nice game, would have liked him to take more shots though.

Tony Battie:

Another guy who i think just doesn't work for this team, they need someone else to be starting instead of this guy. he was 4-6, but all shots were somewhat easy. Played his average game.

Hedo Turkoglu:

This game was a little different for Hedo. Normally, everytime he'd get the ball at the 3 point line, he'd shoot, but he only had 1 3pt shot the whole game. Focused more on driving and getting to the hoop. This is how he should always play!!

Dwight Howard:

His free-throw misses killed the Orlando team. Hack-a-Howard anyone? unless this guy improves to at least 65-70%, he's going to cost the Orlando team a lot of games in the future. His FT% took a dip in the last two months of play. 47% in March and 50% in April. MUST IMPROVE FT! Other then that, Dwight played his usual game.

Keyon Dooling:

I like Dooling, he played a nice game, knew when to pass and when to hold the ball, overall good game for him despite limited minutes.

Carlos Arroyo:

Barley noticed him in the game, so i can't really comment on his performance. I still want him out of Orlando.

Trevor Ariza:

They should be playing this guy more. You could see when he was on the court, he had a ton of skill. played 7mins, and i thought that he played a great 7mins.

game preview:

DETROIT (AP) Booing him early and often, Detroit Pistons fans let Darko Milicic know they still begrudge him for being a bust.

The Pistons drafted Milicic second overall in 2003 - passing on Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh - and traded him two-plus seasons later after he averaged fewer than two points a game as a seldom-used reserve.

Milicic said in the past, and reiterated Sunday, he just wants to play.

He's finally getting that chance with the Orlando Magic after not cracking the rotation for Detroit's championship-caliber team.

He averaged eight points and 5+ rebounds in 24 minutes a game this season for Orlando, producing the kind of numbers the Pistons predicted he would on a team not stacked as they were with a veteran frontcourt.

Milicic scored 14 points, tied for second on the team, as Detroit beat the Magic 100-92 in Game 1 of their first-round series.

"We never questioned Darko's ability,'' Pistons coach Flip Saunders said. "I thought he did some nice things.''

The 7-foot, 250-pound center from Serbia-Montenegro was jeered and taunted throughout the game, particularly while shooting free throws.

"I don't really care,'' he insisted. "Back home fans used to throw baseball (bats) at me. They used to try to kill me back home, that's why I don't even care.''

He acknowledged it was meaningful to him, however, to play well at The Palace after a poor showing there earlier this season.

"It was important for me because the first game here I struggled. I couldn't make a shot,'' he said. "I really wanted to come out last night and help my team. I was really happy about it.''

Magic coach Brian Hill was, too.

"I was happy for Darko that he played well,'' he said. "Obviously the fans have been a little rough on him here. I thought he played hard and with a good amount of confidence. It was good to see him have a good game.''

In return for Milicic, the Pistons have Orlando's first-round pick - 15th overall - in June. He will be a restricted free agent this summer.

Orlando came away from losing Game 1 feeling OK because it had a shot to win, despite missing 18 of 36 free throws and making 21 turnovers.

Detroit, meanwhile, knows it could've turned the game into a rout.

Game 2 in the best-of-seven series is Monday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

"The mood of the guys is fine, obviously disappointed in the fact we lost, but confident we can play better (Monday) night,'' Hill said. "Obviously, we can't afford to have as many turnovers as we did and we have to make free throws, but I think we can do some things to do a better job on some of their key players.''

Detroit guards Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton each had 22 points and the other three starters scored at least 12 apiece.

The Pistons led all game and seemed to be cruising toward a blowout before missing a lot of open shots in the fourth quarter, helping Orlando pull within three points late in the game.

"We got a little stagnant,'' Saunders said. "I thought there were probably some calls that could have been called. We had a few turnovers.

"But for most of the game, we executed fairly well, took care of the ball and played the way we're supposed to play.''

Detroit 98, Orlando 90 -- The AP reports: Rasheed Wallace blocked a shot and made a 3-pointer on the opening possessions and finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks to help the Detroit Pistons beat the Orlando Magic 98-90 and take a 2-0 lead in the first-round series... In Game 2, Detroit's balance was too much for Orlando's two-player attack. Detroit's starters each scored at least 10 points and top reserve Antonio McDyess added nine points and 11 rebounds... The Magic, meanwhile, didn't have a third player in double figures until the final minute of the game when former Piston Darko Milicic scored his 10th point -- all in the fourth quarter... The Pistons were in control for much of the game, but just like the opener, Orlando rallied late to make the final score look respectable.

For the Pistons: Richard Hamilton on 14 shots had 22 points and 6 assists. Chauncey Billups on 12 shots had 21 points and 8 assists. Tayshaun Prince shot 7-of-13 for 18 points and 6 rebounds. Rasheed Wallace shot 7-of-15 for 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks. Chris Webber went 4-of-8 for 10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Antonio McDyess shot just 2-of-11 for 9 points and 11 rebounds.

For the Magic: Hedo Turkoglu shot 10-of-14 for 22 points and 2 blocks. Grant Hill on just 10 shots had 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Darko Milicic shot 5-of-9 for 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Dwight Howard was a mere 3-of-9 for 8 points, 11 rebounds and no blocks.

game preview:

Detroit at Orlando, 8PM ET -- The AP reports: The Orlando Magic have used a number of defenders on Detroit's Chauncey Billups, and none of them has been able to slow him down. Billups has 43 points and 19 assists in two games, taking advantage of mismatches, avoiding double teams and finding open teammates... Knowing Billups creates problems for his team, Magic coach Brian Hill has rotated Nelson, Carlos Arroyo, Keyon Dooling and Grant Hill onto the 6-foot-3, 202-pound point guard.
Hill started off Game 1 guarding Billups, but that left Nelson covering 6-7 shooting guard Richard Hamilton -- another mismatch. Nelson ended up on Billups for part of that game and eventually fouled out... The Magic have decided they need to be more physical with the Pistons. They want Dwight Howard, who missed eight free throws in the series opener and was sick in Game 2, to assert himself in the post. They want Grant Hill and Hedo Turkoglu to drive to the basket more frequently.

game preview:

Detroit at Orlando, 3PM ET -- The AP reports: The Detroit Pistons would like a little downtime, something they haven't enjoyed since the All-Star break in February. They know how to get it, too. Detroit needs to sweep Orlando and hope the Miami-Chicago series extends into next week. "I would love it," guard Chauncey Billups said Friday. "I think it would be great for our guys to get some time off before the next series. I think we'll be thinking about that at the start of the game, trying to get the win so we can be blessed enough to get some time off." ... The Pistons, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, have beaten the Magic handily the first three games and essentially outplayed them at every position. If the trend continues in Game 4 on Saturday, the Pistons will have their first postseason series sweep since 1990, when the "Bad Boys" swept Indiana in the first round en route to a second consecutive NBA title... Billups has been better than Jameer Nelson at the point. Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince have been more effective than Hill and Hedo Turkoglu. And Rasheed Wallace and Webber have dominated Dwight Howard and Tony Battie in the post.

I liked what I saw from Larry Hughes running the point when Jameer was off. Looked comfortable and didnt take any silly jumpers. Would be more comfortable with Hughes before Duhon
