Why is this considered a "huge game"? It's game 32 not game 82.

Just because you're arbitrarily picking a random point in the early season which Atlanta could hold first place, doesn't mean it's significant. They could lose that lead the very next game, with 49 games yet to be played and never regain it.

What's significant is that Atlanta has played themselves into striking position of 1st place, regardless of the outcome of random game number #32.
