Me personnally it is Charles Barkley.
Back in africa, i had posters of him playing with the suns all over my room, as a kid. People had Jordan me I had Charles Barkley. When i got to Canada and got to really get heavily involved in the basketball world (Forums, blogs etc..). I discovered Timothy Duncan and fell in love with his playing style. Kidd is my favorite of all time.

Wilt chamberlain. oooh i can remember being there at the hersheys sports arena. and you could just tell that their was some kind of magic in there.
Little did I know that i would be witnessing something that nobody for generations would ever see.
I was just a young boy at the time. but being as my father was unemployed for majority of his life, made me a strong believer in miracles. What I saw that night was exactly that. A giant of a man (some would question wether he was a descendant of hercules or goliath) scoring points as though they were consistent incentives to get a job for people on welfare.
Since that 100 point game. the only thing close to seeing such an extraordinary thing was the 81 point game.
I gathered that if wilt was a descendant of goliath or hercules, then this young kobe bean bryant (capable of 81 points and 5 rings) must be the son of god

When I first got my basketball hoop my dad would talk about sky hooks and Dr J so I started watching him and he was my first favorite player. I then became a fan of MJ and I'm just thankful that I got to watch the NBA in it's purest form where MJ dominated all unlike the superstars of today which flop around all over the place and enjoy going to the line from touch fouls.

Magic. Always been a Laker fan.
But Jordan was my favorite player. But I didn't root for him. Hard to explain but he was already the GOAT back then. Definition of living legend. You don't root for the GOAT. When LA playing them in the finals I wanted the Lakers to win. Especially since I considered them the underdogs.

Reggie Miller. I didn't start watching until about 2000 and he and old MJ were my favorite players to root for, not knowing much about the game but having heard the names/stories.
Oh and VC, growing up in Canada there were a lot of Raps games on and he was so exciting in his prime. Best dunker the game has ever seen.
I didn't become a player stan until LeBron though. :oldlol: Senior year of high school and I was on the hype train. And truth be told I probably would have hopped the bandwagon to any team he went to. I'm glad he went to the Cavs though because this franchise and these fans through all the struggles and failures, are always strong and I'm a Cav fan for life. Grew out of that play fan phase for the most part.

Scottie Pippen. I was super young so I thought he was the best player because I saw him involved in every play on both sides of the court lol

Jordan, because I was 5. Don't get me wrong, I still really like Jordan and he's one of my favorite players ever, but when you're 6 years old and start watching the NBA, what kid that age isn't going to say Michael Jordan is their favorite player?
When I got a little older it was Kevin Garnett. I think it may have been because of the "straight from high school to the pros" story. I remember watching the 1995 draft, seeing/hearing he was being drafted straight from high school, and thinking he must be really good to get drafted this high without going to college. I was 9, so yes, something like just appealed to me. But he was hands down my favorite player until 2008 when Kevin Durant and the Thunder came to a city within reasonable one day driving distance of where I live.
I also always had "second favorite players" like Iverson, T-Mac, Dirk, Penny, and Nash.

I always followed the nba because I loved playing nba live/other nba video games but the 1st time i remember really caring about basketball was 2002-2003 playoffs watching the mavs vs kings.I remember i was a nick van axel fan from back in his lakers days but i couldnt understand why steve nash started over him when he played better than nash in every game.I just remember him dominating everytime he came in and that steve nash was nothing special back then.Next series while still rooting for the mavs i remember some guy name Stephen Jackson kept making clutch shots and he never missed open 3's.Those are my 1st memories of watching the playoffs.
