The salty posters are like Hawks in first, doesn't matter.
But if the Cavs or Bulls were in first, then it would.

Typical.

why do people always say ish like this???

if people have actually watched the games they should be impressed by what the hawks are doing. Not that it means they are contenders all of a sudden but the lack of respect they get is ridiculous. Hawks about a week ago went into texas and got some wins in impressive fashion. So all this weak schedule talk is overblown because they are making their ops look like nobody.

Can't knock the confidence though! Maybe some day they will be serious contenders.

Milsap was the player that the Rockets shoulda signed instead of Smith. Rockets had their chance to get him but passed on him.Milsap's shooting could have spaced the floor.

I could see Brooklyn beating them. And do you honestly think Boston will hold onto a playoff spot? :oldlol: If Atlanta somehow gets Milwaukee or some other team in the first round, expect an upset, little boy.

Nobody's afraid of the Hawks. Mediocrity at its ****ing finest, baby.

You guys sure you'll hold on to that seed? Hate to bring it up again...but the Bucks are rocking a +12.5 differential vs the Hawks this year. You guys drop a couple spots to #3 and it's over for ATL in round 1, imo.

Weren't they number one last year before horford went down and they basically lost every game after that aside from the Miami game late in the season?

We weren't number one.
But we did have a streak of losing 14 out of 15, and then 6 in a row.
We had not only Horford out, but we lost Millsap, Antic, Brand for many games. We had some games where Mike Scott, was playing center.
And we had two exceptions to add players, and management refused to do so.
And yet the Knicks still couldn't get past us and into the playoffs.

Good thing you let McBob go and signed Williams and Stephenson to those big contracts.

And that is why they will come back down to earth. No significant injuries yet and a softer schedule than most. They will lock up the third seed most likely, which for not having a single star is great. Really good coaching has gotten the absolute most out of this team and bud probably gets coach of the year.

We definitely need another big.
That's why NY should release Amare Stoudemire and Andrea Bargnani, so we can sign them to minimum contracts.

http://espn.go.com/nba/stats/rpi/_/sort/SOS

The problem is that the SOS between say 10th place and 28th is not that huge of a difference.

No, I wouldn't expect them to keep winning at this pace. But the SOS gets to be less of a factor as the season goes along.

The only good team that they've played poorly against was the first meeting they had with the Cavs. Otherwise, there is no evidence (yet) to suggest that they can't continue to play well against the top teams.

It is going to start to get harder, because teams will be focusing on the Hawks.
They'll spend more time on scouting reports, on game preparation.

I think the question is... Can the Hawks beat these teams the 2nd time around?

Most teams don't have the make up to shut the Hawks down.

The Hawks stretch the floor so that the guards can attack the paint. Most teams can't shut down the Hawks shooters and slowdown the Hawks guards. A team like Dallas is not built to stop the Hawks. Neither is Cleveland.

The Hawks struggle the most with young athletic teams that have depth. That means Toronto, Bucks and Orlando. Teams like that. Teams with shot blocking centers that can disrupt the Hawks guards attacking the basket. However, the Hawks can still beat those teams. They beat Houston and they beat the Clippers even though Jordan was everywhere against them.

But the truth is that the contenders aren't really built to stop the Hawks. That's why the Hawks have got the better of the best teams in the league so far. The Warriors are a possible exception.

I'm not saying that they can't be beaten. But many teams don't have the players that hurt the Hawks the most. The thing that gives the Hawks the most trouble are rim protectors and guards that can get up in their face and just challenge their shots.

Teams like Toronto and Orlando have big men that can block some shots and they have guards that are young, athletic and they can get up in the faces of Korver, Teague and Dennis.

That's the evidence that is out there so far. Just watch the games against Toronto, Orlando and The Bucks. Also, the player that bothered the Hawks the most in the Clippers game was DeAndre Jordan.

The Hawks should be more worried about a team like the Bucks in the playoffs rather than someone like Miami or New Jersey.

So who are the contenders because nobody is playing at the class of Toronto/Atlanta. Yea they are not typical contenders but they are the only teams that have played at a contending level so far. Cleveland, Chicago, Washington have displayed more flaws and continue to develop bad traits. Cleveland in particular have not been able to turn the switch on as of yet.

um... what are you talking about?
the Bulls won 13 of their last 15, and that's with the entire team in tact. A lot of those wins were against very top notch teams too. Any losses beforehand were due to key players being missing, as evident by their hot streak now.
