Because he's a ****ing joke of a head coach. Lin has to have that awareness himself but byron scott is a ****ing useless person.

Kobe was away for too long. Not inside the system yet. They were supposed to let the clock run out and tank the end. F Kobe trying to ruin LA tanking.

this is just further proof that scott is a puppet coach and that kobe's really in charge

He either said to not foul, or didn't say anything. Which implies he had no idea what was going on.

Dude's averaging 16/9/9 a game on 46/50/77 shooting since the return.

I thought I heard the commentator say he was screaming to foul....
Lin shouldnt have to be told though.

The Memphis commentators said that Scott was telling them not to foul. Lin was looking at him too. They don't know why he was yelling that to them. Kobe was telling Lin to foul and rushed over there to foul'em when nobody else did.
Scott was dumb in that play and Lin trusted in dumb if true. Kobe don't give a shit in listening to his coach. He sometimes break away from plays when Phil Jax was coaching. However, losing is good for the Lakers right now.

if your bb iq is high enough, you don't need the coach to tell you to foul when there's no time left on the clock.
the coach in game should be telling players about how many time outs, substitutions.
The players need to worry about clock management.
I don't think Harvard teaches you basketball IQ.

It would be nice to get confirmation.
The Memphis commentators said that the Scott was telling them NOT to foul. The Lakers commentators was saying that Scott didn't signal anything, huh?

It takes two to tango.
You need a loser on the court as well as on the bench for something like this to happen.

Lin is just so beta and stupid :oldlol:
your team is down 1 in 4th quarter.
game clock 18.7sec
shot clock 18 sec
dude in front is just dribbling the time away...
you shouldn't need to have a basketball IQ of 160 to know that you gotta fking foul the mothafugga and stop the clock.
that retarded sequence was so painful to watch

LOL you guys can't get mad at Lin in this situation. What is he supposed to do? Say f*** Scott and foul anyways even though scott told him specifically NOT to? Come on, not everyone can get away with ignoring the coach like kobe and lebron.

I'll be the first to admit when Lin makes a mistake but the coach gave specific instructions.
What's a guy supposed to do? Not everyone is Kobe and can go over the coach.
When you're benched and fighting for minutes you NEVER EVER go against the coach. Ever.

lol at people saying lin should have fouled. this is a lose lose sitiuation for him either way, might as well just go for the better one. say he goes against the coach's DIRECT orders and foul, what does that get him? if the lakers pull out the win, he wont get credit anyway (no way he is taking the last shot), and its even worse if they lose....

You have to foul or try for a desperate steal. The Grizzlies could just dribble out the clock and there would only be 0.2 seconds left.
