Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the standards for getting into schools (even Harvard) aren't nearly as high for athletes as they are for the general student body. Whereas a regular student will need near perfect grades/SAT/extracurriculurs/etc, an athlete will probably need average or slightly above average grades/SAT/extracurriculars/etc. Also, once accepted at a place like Harvard, I'm pretty sure it's difficult to flunk out unless you literally blow off the entire curriculum and do next to nothing.

That said, whenever I hear about an athlete getting into/graduating from a top school, I'm not all that impressed.
