View Full Version : Was Shannon Brown responsible for the end of the Lakers title run?

There were rumors that shannon brown slept with gasol's gf. Gasol didn't play well in the playoffs because of this, and also led to chemistry being ruined for the team.

Thoughts?

Obviously yes. Look at Gasol now? Many years removed from Shannon Brown, and he's back to full form.

No, they were just worn down and tired, and got beat by a ridiculously hot team.

This.

But there was some truth to it.

The Lakers stopped using him correctly and kept trying to trade him. Destroyed his confidence.

No..Lakers lost their ambition to win

IIRC, it was combination of things and if that really went down it only compounded the problem.

Kobe also underperformed in those playoffs.

Artest and Bynum played like idiots. Not much of a bench outside of Odom. I think Phil was very lackadaisical in his coaching.

Injured squad too. They had a good run, though.

If we're being truthful, the NBA is the cause for the end of the Lakers title runs. Accepted, then ultimately overturned trades are the cause of this current downfall, coupled with the new CBA. The implications of said overturned trades will mark David Stern, nay, the NBA, with infamy.

Never before, and hopefully never again, will such an awkward, bizarre, unfortunate, quasi dysfunctional and corrupt situation occur to any team ever again.

That bizarre situation and outcome was foreseen by the great Phil Jackson, approximately a year before it happened. He knew what was coming.

The implications from that vetoed trade crushed the chemistry of 2 incredibly important pieces to our championship aspirations. Lamar Odom was mentally demolished, sending his life in a drug induced downward spiral that he would never recover from, promptly exiting him from his NBA career. Pau Gasol was never the same, and his disappointment and lack of focus was shown on the court night in and night out. He had the looming threat of being traded hang over his head every year until the trade deadline. He had reason to worry, he had already been traded from the Lakers once.

These are the reasons the Lakers are where they are, not Shannon Brown. CP3, Dwight, and Kobe would be Lakers if not for that WTF butterfly effect unfortunate chain of events.

I'm only talking about the 2011 season.

What happened afterwards is irrelevant

Let us know you're only talking about the 2011 season in your OP then. You ask a vague question, you get a vague reply.

"End of the Lakers title run" can mean a lot of things **** face. As I said, if you want to quantify it to the 2011 season alone, you should have been specific. You asked for "Thoughts?" You got it.

3 Reasons:

- Shannon Brown banging Gasol's fiance.
- Paula Gasoft.
- Kobe's selfishness, and rapid decline.

Fvck 2011, let's rewind dis....are we going to pretend that Tyrone Lue isn't responsible for AI's loss against the lakers? He did his hair just like AI to mind fvck him out of a title. Mutumbo and Snow pretty much had Shaq and Bean on lockdown but once their leader fell, it all went to hell.

Sad too. Would've loved to see those Lakers against the Miami Big 3.

Basically they were runnin on fumes, Kobe Bruant had a bum knee and barely practiced that season. They just ran in to a scorching hot Mavs squad.

3 Reasons:

- Shannon Brown banging Gasol's fiance.

- Kobe's selfishness, and rapid decline.

Kobe had similar knee issues like Wade in 2013 + he had an ankle injury right before the Playoffs

It looked like it would be a close series in Game 1, until they blew it in the 4th quarter, Kobe had 36 pts and Pau had a nice all-around game, but they let Mavs go on a run late in the game :facepalm, I think that just destroyed their confidence with all the shit that was going on

Plus, Phil came out and told his team he had cancer, I guess that affected them as well.

Game 3 is the same story, they are up 6 going into the 4th and get outscored by 12 points..Dirk dropped 32 pts on 19 shots on Pau, including 4 threes :facepalm :facepalm

The Laker team was facing fatigue, injuries to Kobe and chemistry problems. They played well in first halves in I think all of those games (except for Game 4), but got destroyed in 2nd halves, namely in the 4th.

It was well known around LA that Pau's wife was getting that brown sugar. That's why Pau originally asked for a trade in early 2011.

Everyone knows that those Laker team weren't really that good. They had 1 superstar in Kobe and 1 very good player in Gasol.
Kobe was injured and Gasol played like shit. Lakers would only go where those 2 carried them.

No it was when Kobe's wife snitch on Pau. Telling his GF that he was cheating on her. Two rats in the family...
