Someone who came off the bench and decimated other teams

I think Vinnie Johnson is the most iconic. People always refer to him, and the "Microwave" nickname.

do this include player who dont play 6th man but would be best suited for it because lebron jame is greatest six man ever if we look at it this way. he dnot have to carry hes team, be leader, dominateb game, or do noything he is no cut out for doing. he can play well against weak comptition ( opposing bench ) just like he do for many year now by stack his team nd erase all copetition hes conference. lebron as six man is a microcosm of his actions with ' decision ' fro past few year. because thes he is best six man of the times ever in nba .

Question I have about Hondo is how much of his career was he a 6th man? Because when I go look at his minutes on BR, looks like he's getting starter minutes for a good portion of his career.

He also had the inner drive that characterized "Celtics pride." After his first year Havlicek went home and worked hard to improve both his outside shooting and his dribbling. The next season he led the team in scoring, averaging 19.9 ppg and he showed that he was ready to assume Ramsey's position as the Celtics' all-important sixth man. Despite Cousy's retirement, Boston won 59 games in 1963-64 and vanquished the San Francisco Warriors in five games for the NBA crown. Havlicek made the All-NBA Second Team.

For the next five seasons Havlicek was the best nonstarter in basketball. As Boston's "supersub" he came in at either guard or forward and was usually on the court at the end of a game. Along with Russell, Havlicek routinely accumulated the most playing minutes among the Celtics during a season.

Havlicek didn't mind the sixth-man role. "It never bothered me," he once said, "because I think that role is very important to a club.. One thing I learned from Red Auerbach was that it's not who starts the game, but who finishes it, and I generally was around at the finish."

gosh you went straight to the best of the best right there!

How about Bob McAdoo in his Laker days? Or Bill Walton on the Celtics? Both of them at end of days though and they were injured a lot.

Ray Allen has been just amazing as 6th guy these past few years too

Hard to tell exactly, you got different "types" of 6th men...

Scoring/Shooting:
Eddie Johnson
Terry
Crawford
Ricky Pierce (could be in the all-around also)
Fred Brown
Curry
Vinnie Johnson
Gordon
McAdoo (6th man either him or Coop at some point; could also be all-around)
...

Defensive:
Bobby Jones (at some point could be said all-around off the bench)
Starks
Rodman (before starting, even though Microwave was more of 6th man)
McMillan
Bill Hanzlik
Quinn Buckner (believe he was something like a 6th man at some point)
Don Chaney (was he close a 6th man at some point?)
...

All-around:
Manu
McHale
Hondo
Detlef
Cooper (could be in the defensive also)
Kukoc
Odom
Walton (could be also in the rebounding/defensive too)
...

When taking everything into account I'd probably go with Ginobili as the overall best, for his longevity and success at the spot.

When you talk about peaks as 6th man it's hard to say but the best are Hondo, Manu, McHale, Detlef, B. Jones, Ricky Pierce, Walton, Cooper...

Its only Manu and McHale as far as winners go. IDK why staying a starter is so important and prestigious. AI did not have to go out like he did.

Definitely one of the best ever. Very good scorer, could do it very "quickly" too, and he could play D.
