Stern changed the rules, intentionally to make it harder for Shaq to win.
Otherwise, Shaq might have the same number of rings as Russell.

Discuss.

Apologies for title - auto-correct on computer.

If it weren't for Stern, Shaq would have LESS championships. Might as well say bye bye to Lakers rings of 2000 and 2002.

The 2002 screwjob was Stern's masterwork.

Shaq would have won more championships. The same way how Steve Kerr may figure out implementing the triangle offense with perimeter shooters.

I think you mean if it werent for Kobe, Shaq would have won more championships.

This is a dumb argument. Young Shaq didn't get to ride an all-time great's prime.

1995 and 1996 magic.

Do you honestly believe 95/96 was Shaq's prime over the early 2000s? Shaq was a beast during those years, but it wasn't his prime.

And Shaq was gone by the time Kobe reached his prime. Krispy Cream is the cause for Shaq not having more championships, not Kobe. Krispy Cream and laziness.

please tell us the difference between 98,99 and 2000 Shaq the

Because Shaqs "prime" sure does coincidentally fall into olace with the exact same time Kobe became elite.

Shaq spent years in Orland with Nick Anderson, Horace Grant & first team all nba guard penny Hardaway. Didnt win anything.

Goes to the lakers, gets to play with 2 all star guards. Doesn't win anything until Kobe becomes elite and leads the nba playoffs in 4th quarter scoring for 3 straight years.

If Shaq is the MDE, then what is a 22 year old Kobe who out scored and out assisted him throughout the most dominant run in the western conference playoff run of all time.

Then Shaq gets to go play with the third goat shooting guard in Wade.

This would be like if Kobe spent his entire career playing with Shawn Kemp, Shaq and prime KG

why does it not? Even if Shaq posted the same numbers but had the Lakers not win any championship from 2000 to 2002, no one would even mention "peak" Shaq as being arguably the most dominant force in NBA history during those years. Posting impressive numbers are just an after thought if you lose.

Exactly. Made 3 straight finals with Shaq. Then replaces Shaq with a 3rd team all nba big, and makes 3 straight finals again..

Shaq plays with prime penny (first team all nba) an prime wade (third goat shooting guard) and never got close to the type of succes he saw with Kobe.
