View Full Version : Pau Gasol is an elite rim protector
Shot percentage around the rim (http://stats.nba.com/tracking/#!/player/defense/)
Anthony Davis allows 50.6%
DeAndre Jordan 48%
Tim Duncan 46.8%
Marc Gasol 50.2%
Tyson Chandler 50.9%
Noah allows 53%
But the all-Pauerful only allows 46%:applause:
Maybe even more impressive than that is he's facing 10.8 shot attempts at the rim PER game. More than anyone else but Terrence Jones. Of the guys I listed Timmy is ranked the highest of them at 9.1
He's also fourth in blocks as well.
Can we give him a little love up in here for his defense?

His resurgence is very impressive. His defense has been good. His help defense at times has been very poor though. But I believe that will get better as the Bulls starting 5 start to gel more. Adding a 6'10" Nikola at SF may be the key with his length and intensity.

How did you leave out Hibbert? 41.6% allowed at the rim..I know its not about Hibbert, just wanted to give him some props...
But yes to the actual topic...Gasol has been really surprising this year.......

I was just posting guys who are considered good defenders/rim protectors and how Pau was better. It's a Pau agenda thread! Not a Hibbert one!
Pau doesn't go straight up.:(

The Kobe Bryant effect. Once he leaves, Gasol becomes one of the best in the league.

Lebron is the best rim protector in the league when he plays center.

Pau also allows the most field goal attempts at the rim of any player.

I don't remember Pau looking so great on that end when Al had one of his best games of the season (21/10/6) against him earlier this year.

That's the Pau I remember.
Bigs and Guards would have career nights from the paint.

Propoganda thread!
He allows the most field goal attempts at the rim of any player despite having Gibson, Noah, Hinrich, and Butler backing him up. Thats awful, just like Pau is awful on defense.

thats because the bulls defense is designed to funnel players into the lane so our bigs can block their shots

he's also platying with a defensive minded team, in LA, he wasn't. so it was almost completely up to him inside most the time

He took Pau one on one...one time. Maybe call it two. Pau contested one jumper...and chose to let him shoot a couple more.
A borderline all star bigman having 21....much of it on uncontested jumpers...is not something to be ashamed of or take note of.
