The numbers speak for themselves. But is he?

Pulls down 5 offensive boards a game and only plays 30 minutes a game. In line with prime Rodman essentially and he is only 21 years old. I'm guessing it will fall off a little in the next few seasons as he expands this game, as this seems to be a common trend. But as far as how he is going now, would you put him up there with the Rodman's, Barkley and Malone type players?

Not going to bother comparing to centers back in the day since the game was far too different in terms of numbers.

Im so nba'd out

Didn't prime rodman pull down like 18 rpg at 6'7 :biggums: Dont you dare compare him to rodman if rodman had that height + wingspan he would of averaged 24 rpg

He's an elite rebounder, but it's too early to call him one of the best 'ever'

Rodman was playing 40 minutes compared to the 30 Drummond plays.

Who cares about height and wingspan? I'm talking about them as rebounders with what they have. I'm sure a few people on here could pull down 10 boards given 7 foot height and a 7'6 wingspan.

I think I would call him the best rebounder in the league right now. The degree of difficulty in some of his rebounders is incredible. Beats guys in the air even when outnumbered 3 to 1 at times.

Just so strong,

He's still quite a bit behind prime Rodman, who was essentially at 26-29% rebounding percentage, but I think he might be better per minute than guys like Hakeem or Barkley. Funnily enough, Kevin Love actually matches him as a rebounder if you look at advanced stats (pre Cleveland).

Ever?

Get real. Let the guy have a relevant career first

How many guys have pulled down 5.4 offensive rebounds in a season?

He has already put up some of the best rebounding seasons ever. That is fact.

Moses and Rodman-6 times each. Also Barkley, Varejao (injured season), and Jayson Williams a couple times. Then there's Rodman with his absurd rebound % (25%+; qualify for leaders) (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=single&type=totals&per_minute_base=36&per_poss_base=100&lg_id=NBA&is_playoffs=N&year_min=&year_max=&franch_id=&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=99&height_min=0&height_max=99&shoot_hand=&birth_country_is=Y&birth_country=&birth_state=&college_id=&is_active=&debut_yr_nba_start=&debut_yr_nba_end=&debut_yr_aba_start=&debut_yr_aba_end=&is_hof=&is_as=&as_comp=gt&as_val=&award=&pos_is_g=Y&pos_is_gf=Y&pos_is_f=Y&pos_is_fg=Y&pos_is_fc=Y&pos_is_c=Y&pos_is_cf=Y&qual=trb_per_g_req&c1stat=trb_pct&c1comp=gt&c1val=25&c2stat=&c2comp=gt&c2val=&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&c5stat=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=ws)

Drummond is a great rebounder, tho.

Drummond is a great rebounder, tho.

Exactly my point. The list is short, and most of the times it has been achieved was players not playing a full season, or playing more minutes than Drummond.

Clearly when he is on the floor, he is in fact, one of the best ever.

Dude, stop. Danny Fortson did it for a season, but nobody says he's one of the best ever.

Let Drummond keep it up for a few seasons then we can talk about this.

Actually yeah, he's in very good company in terms of offensive rebounding. 5 offensive rebounds a game puts him in the company of Barkley, Moses, Rodman, etc. Keep in mind he only plays around 30 minutes per game also compared to other top rebounders who played around 36-38 in their peak rebounding seasons. Per 36, Drummond is averaging 6 offensive rebounds a game and around 16 total rebounds a game. Which is very impressed in the modern NBA.

His ORB% and total offensive rebounds last season trails only the likes of Moses Malone, Dennis Rodman, and Jayson Williams, which is very impressive.

Nobody says he is because there is some sort of expectation of continued performance, which is reasonable in terms of his place in all time great rankings.

But as far as putting him on the court right now, he is up there. Is that such a crazy comment given the numbers he puts up? I don't think so.

But rebounding is about all he is asked to do. If he keeps up with pace with a bigger role it would be impressive.

He's also averaging 13 points to go with that, it's not like he's Reggie Evans or something.

A lot of players are just asked to defend/rebound these days, Drummond rebounds better than anyone else.

Not yet for me, but based on age and recent performances he could be the best of his generation. He need to works a lot and the time will show ...

This. And he's younger than those guys as well too. But as the year goes on that number will go down.
