View Full Version : Portland/LAC/Suns/GS should all be after Carmelo

Or they should be
NY badly wants to cut another 6.5 million of more off payroll. So taking on Calderon, Bargnani, Jason smith would be a value added.
The reason those teams should go on? Thru could get Carmelo without giving up their key players. Carmelo makes the suns a legit member of that group, and any if the other 3 a top 3 team in the league
Clippers for Deandre Jordan who they'll have to pay waay too much when you have hawes at 6 per
Golden state for iggy and dLee would be a steal. Even w some picks
Phoenix. The Bledsoe / Carmelo swap makes too much sense.
I really hope the blazers and nike get this done. Lillard/Carmelo/Aldridge would be serious
Who gets Carmelo?

GS does not need Melo, they'd be worse off with him.

Lol, they'd probably have to get rid of Klay to get Melo. Iggy and Lee won't get it done.
Phoenix trade makes the most sense. I'd try to see if they would bite on Isaiah, along with Plumlee and Tucker or something. The Bled/Dragic combo is just too sick.

nobody is trading for melo while his health is in limbo.

Portland and GS have no reason to trade for Melo; they're currently legit title contenders.
Suns and Clippers, on the other hand, do... Suns in particular are intriguing. But Bledsoe doesn't help the Knicks, and Clippers won't give up DeAndre.
Seriously FVCK your thread titles.

Horrible, horrible trade for GS. Iggy and Lee are selfless team players and are fantastic complimentary pieces for Steph and Klay. Melo would just **** up the chemistry and defense. He brings literally nothing that GS doesn't already have.

Why would we trade a lockdown defender in Iggy and DLee who is good for 15/10 on any given night for Carmelo Anthony?

Carmelo CAN NOT go somewhere and win consistently as a volume scorer. He would have to be willing to fit into a team offense and move the ball around. He doesnt seem interested or capable of doing that.

The best defense is a good offense. You wanna wear Durant out in the playoffs? Have Durant guard Melo, Melo would wear him out and has actually done well against him

Carmelo, bargnani, Jason smith, wear, cleanthony early
For
Batum, Mathews, Kaman, Thomas Robinson, Meyers leanord/freeland a 1st, 2 2nds

I'd rather have Tony Allen than Carmelo Anthony. srs.
Anthony is a loser. There are players that score and there team wins. There are players that score and there team always loses. Melo is the second one. For whatever reason the more he scores the worse his team performs. Loser.

Would you really rather cheer for a team that can't win it all over a team that night be able to win it?

I've always strongly disliked the "Melo is a cancer" shit, thought that in the past he could lead a contender under the right circumstances...but now with his contract, his age/developing injury concerns, and how the vast majority of elite teams are all following the extreme unselfishness and team first approach..Portland, Dallas, SA, GS, Memphis, etc...no team that wants to win a championship should go anywhere near Melo. It's just the sad reality, again, mostly because of his contract, style of play, and age/physical state going forward.

Those teams all move the ball around too well to risk on the massive ball-stopping black hole that is Carmelo. Not only is he a ballhog that doesn't play defense, now he's injury prone to boot. Meh.
Going to go down as one of the biggest Decepticon superstars of recent memory, the kind of player who only seems to help himself on the stat sheet.

Golden State? :oldlol:
Yeah, they should be doing everything they can to get rid of Lee's contract (Green is like twice as effective and they need to cap room).
But you'd be getting Melo for years meaning signing Green -- who is also a better, more efficient and impactful player than Melo is -- would still be hard.

Melo sucks. I don't want that cancer on my team. Nothing he's ever "accomplished" results in winning.

The problem you aren't addressing is that G State has no reason to do this. What does Melo do, above all else? Score. What do the Warriors do, maybe better than anyone else? Score. Their offense is great. So why would they blow apart their core for Anthony? If there is a weakness it's Bogut's health. So maybe they should do something to make sure they have a rim protector if he's out. That isn't Melo.

Career loser? Ball stopper? What's up with the stupidity?
Career loser Carmelo Anthony has missed the NBA Playoffs just once in his entire career.
Ball stopper Carmelo Anthony was the engine behind the league's 3rd best offense as recently as 2012-2013. In a system that was designed around his ability to suck in multiple defenders and make the quick read for a pass-pass sequence, or assist on the play himself - most of the shots created being good, open threes. Same ball stopper Carmelo had 0 problems lettinf Chauncey Billups run the offense as soon as he replaced old man Iverson.
And anyone who still thinks he sucks defensively clearly missed the last two years. In '13 he was average, and last season he was actually out there giving his best effort yet on most nights.
It's especially teams like Portland or Dallas that would love to have him. He's literally the perfect fit for Dallas if he returns to last year's form after getting healthy.

Maybe the suns could do it without including Bledsoe. Thomas, plumlee are both solid pieces, but Bledsoe for Carmelo even if the sins added something is a huge win for Phoenix.

You know Lee is still a good player, right? He gives the second unit a post presence and is a great passer from the high post (like Bogut). I have no idea why people act like he's a scrub.
When you're 28-5, there's no reason to get rid of anybody.
