View Full Version : I miss who I used to be
Has anyone else ever felt this way? I was just looking at some old pictures and I cant believe how much Ive changed. I have always had some degree of depression or sadness since I was a little kid. However I was so confident and, honestly charismatic several years ago. I look at these old pictures and Im like Wow, there is just a sparkle in my eye and a clear sense of confidence. I look at me now and Im so filled with doubt, and years of sadness are in my eyes. Years of not liking myself or doubting, I can see it in my face. I cant smile the same, I look so drab and uninspired.
I know that some of this has to do with the winter, because during the summer I was starting to feel really good. I tend to get more depressed and sad during the winter..
However.. I just wonder if anyone else has felt this way or knows the feeling. Any advice or just thoughts?

When I start thinking negative I think of the jungle. I think how there are animals fighting just to survive while I have the comfort of living in human society.
But people like me don't get down much to begin with. As a born leader, I owe it to everyone to be that guy who handles life issues with poise.
Joe, you're a bitch. I mean seriously, that's what it comes down to. Come to my house and wrestle me. Grapple with me and you'll be instantly humbled and happy to be in my presence.
You need to make alpha friends who will cheer you up. You're lonely as **** reflecting on your teenage years and looking at photos and crying to yourself. GET A ****ING GRIP !!!!!!!!!!! Its embarrassing.

Sounds like you're going through a rough mental stretch in your life but god dammit brother it's time to turn this franchise around. Not everyone can be happy all the time and the winter for me is brutal.
Start thinking about the things you want in life and make a plan to get started with them once this shitty weather passes. Two weeks ago I was depressed but now I'm sitting here with a new job, contacts (so much better than glasses and yes this a big deal to me), and a workout plan for once the weather gets nicer and I start school up again.
You just gotta understand that sometimes life is a grind and you just have to take the shitty moments one day at a time, taking small wins where you can while staying motivated in the process.
It's a little hard to give advice when I don't know more details about your situation, so if you ever want someone to talk to, feel free to hit me up with a PM. Otherwise, hang in there man.

I miss how I used to be with women. I was cutthroat and just wanted to f*ck. I was an animal. Then I got into a serious relationship, and learned how to have feelings and shit. Now I can't f*ck a girl more than a handful of times before I start thinking I have feelings and shit. :facepalm

mccounaghey in his oscar speech:
I know. I lost so much time being depressed. Other people take for granted just feeling normal and comfortable. Since I was a little kid it has been recurring. I've improved a lot in the last year. I've had way worse winters than this. But I was really thinking I had totally healed myself.... then it starts again.

Yes and I used to live in the past too. Some simple advice helped me:
The past does not dictate your future. Your state of mind does. The more self-aware you are of your state of mind on a daily basis, the happier you will be.
i.e. Snap yourself out of it daily when your mind wanders or you are feeling down. Find the alpha within you. If you feel you've lost momentum in life, build it again one day at a time. At some point the new attitude just sticks and everything is gravy again.

Lol I wear glasses too so I def. know why contacts are a big deal. It is weird but like all my motivation and force disappeared when summer ended. It is astounding really. I had all these positive plans and I saved money up over the summer. Winter came and it was like ddhjyddviy I don't wanna.

It's a choice, man. Your attitude is a choice. There aren't many things you have complete control over in your life, but your attitude is one of them.
