It would just make the games worse... basketball is not football. Football lends itself well to weather factors, basketball does not.

Wind can be a challenging factor

Why do we have a streetball forum and why are there outdoor courts all over the world?

LongLiveTheKing

why?
Rain or snow would make a player slip and get injured.

I thought one of the All Star games was open roof?

Not those kind of conditions but dry as you would play outside. NHL does it too.

We will talk about this...

So the pro level is meant strictly indoors like bowling and..? Think of another sport that is played indoors exclusively.

Basketball is an indoor sport, streetball is an unofficial form that is convenient for the amateur players. How about having NFL games on tarmac like cycling see how players deal with tackling and getting taclked on asphalt.

The Wind or Breeze will alter a lot of shots, rain will make players/ ball slippery, etc..

Professional Basketball isn't meant for outdoors..

Why in the world would we play a professional basketball game outside? That's fvcking stupid. OPs only points are that it's never been done before and because other sports are not exclusively indoors. What kind of shit arguments are they? The terrible arguments to get a game outdoors just proves why we shouldn't play outdoors.

I'm not exactly sure. But I'm guessing in the context of professional sports, huge crowds are involved, and housing these spectators requires some consideration.

Sports which use a small playing field are generally played indoors. Billiard, basketball, badminton, bowling etc. Of course most of this sports are wind affected. Ie shuttlecock, bowling pins, billiard balls.

Sports which require big playing field like soccer, football, baseball, are generally played outdoors. And these sports have balls/projectile which are going airborne at great verticals and acceleration. I think it's something along that line, and the nature of the sports.

Not sure why the fawk that crosses your mind though Fawker

Hasn't Phoenix done a handful of outdoor games?

There have been a few outdoor games. I think some were even regular season back in the day.

Im positive ive seen footage of a game on a football field that wasn't in a dome. It was old old footage...but ive seen it. I'll look for it.

Having checked there was an nba game in 1972 played outside in Puerto Rico. But I don't think that's what I remember footage from.

I suppose it could have been the ABA. This is gonna bug me all day...

wonder how many games Lebron and Rose would sit out every season due to inclement weather

I think weather really affects the quality of the basketball moreso than other sports like football/hockey. Basketball isn't a full contact sport and is about finesse and finely tuned motor skills. A tap on the wrist can affect a shot and is called a foul. Wind and temperature can also have a meaningful impact on the outcome of a play.
