View Full Version : So who trades for Reggie Jackson + Kendrick Perkins?

It took Waiters just 2 games to take over Reggie's spot in the rotation, because he's a more talented offensive player and much better at defense. Reggie's time is clearly up here, so who takes a gamble on him while potentially taking on Perkins' expiring contract?
Is it going to be Brooklyn for Brook Lopez?

We don't need another high usage post player who needs to take a lot of shots to be effective
Best case scenario is that we trade for a decent back up PG and a decent back up center who will fit into the team better.
I made a thread the other day that I would love someone like Marshall and Zaza on this team. A good facilitator who can slow the pace down a bit like Maynor did when he was with us and a smart talented centre in Zaza who is a good passer. Both would fit into the offense well I'd believe it would help balance out a lot of the boneheaded clumsy ball movement ISO shit we usually see from OKC

It's tough to say what OKC needs at this point other than a new coach. We should be starting Morrow and playing Waiters around 30 MPG off the bench. If we trade Reggie and Perk it should probably be for some frontcourt depth and a solid, but knows his role type of backup PG.
Waiters played like a boss vs the Jazz. Played great d all night and scored the two biggest baskets of the game. Hard to imagine how toxic Cleveland must be right now for Waiters to play as bad as he did there this year.

Zaza could be great for OKC. What they need from their center position is passing and defense. Maybe a little bit of scoring from mid range but that's about it.

You have one now?

Ibaka gets open shots in the natural flow of the game, he is not force fed for touches.

You can get Brook Lopez for equivalent salary. He's going to get hurt in a few weeks and be out for the season with a non insured contract. But you want to trade Reggie Jackson for him?
 Brilliant! That might actually be the nail in the coffin, using your last bit of flexibility to get a player who'll be gone in a few weeks and be on your books next year. Durant, enjoy Washington.

Time to revisit that Afflalo trade maybe? Something like the following to be rounded up with picks:
Perkins + Jackson + Lamb
for
Afflalo + Hickson/ another big

Kendrick Perkins might be the worst basketball player I've ever seen. Does he have any value as a big body, or is he completely useless?
Y'all should trade Jackson for a new coach :oldlol:

Not sure this makes sense anymore with Waiters and Morrow on this team now. It's a shame the Thunder made the move for Waiters/Afflalo type a year too late. They likely win the chip with either one of them last year...Presti badly ****ed up running with Butler/Thabo when he could have had Afflalo for cheap.
Reggie and Perkins must be traded in my opinion. Assuming the Thunder don't want to keep Reggie and pay him.
Reggie, Perkins, and Lamb would net something nice from somebody. Do they take a risk on Larry Sanders? He's actually on a really good contract and gives them even more up front. Adams/Sanders would be amazing at the center position.
Reggie, Perk, Lamb, and a pick for Sanders, Marshall, and Middelton?
Something like that.
I actually think Pekovic would be great on the Thunder next to Ibaka and Adams as the other bigs. Would help so much when the Thunder offense turns to shit with Durant getting pushed around and WB taking on too much...to have a legit post threat. And while Pek doesn't play great defense...next to Ibaka/Adams it just would not hurt them a ton imo.
Even if the Wolves don't want to keep Reggie...it allows them to get out of Pek's contract and they could turn around and flip Reggie just like the Celtics did with Wright.
Think about what the Celtis essentially did with Wright/Rondo. They turned Rondo into Wright, a first rounder, and a 2nd rounder. Then they turned around and flipped Wright for another first rounder.
So they essentially traded Rondo for 2 first rounders, a 2nd rounder, Jae Crowder (decent role player), and cleared the books.
Now, Pek won't allow you to do that much probably because a team is taking on a big salary, but....you'll get something.
Pek and Mo Williams for Lamb, Reggie, Perkins, and a pick?
Then the Wolves flip Reggie for a first rounder to a contender.
So they'd shed Pek's contract which serves no real purpose on this team as they need to be bad and Pek probably doesn't have a future with this team. And they get at least a first rounder and 2nd rounder when it's all said and done...and a guy like Lamb that has real NBA talent.
I like that deal for both teams.
The caveat being that Pek is healthy enough to make an impact on the Thunder this year. It's a risk for the Thunder, but they need to go all in and try to win the damn title asap. If Pek is ever going to thrive in the NBA...it would be playing next to an elite defensive PF like Ibaka...with a tough defensive center like Adams as his backup or potentially playing them together.
Mo Williams would also be a real nice backup pg for the Thunder on a title run.
Who knows though....tough calls to make.
Last year wasn't though. Presti sat on Butler/Thabo/Fisher and he ****ed his team/fans over hugely. Aflallo was a perfect fit and was sitting out there for a late first rounder or 2nd rounder and Lamb. He got cheap, treasured his draft picks too much, and cost his team a chance to win the title.
He obviously learned from his mistake with the Waiters move, but it might not be enough this year.

I want the Celts to get in on this so bad but Green was the bait. Bass + Thornton any interest to OKC?
