View Full Version : Who's to blame if Durant finish his career ringless? Scott Brooks or Westbrook?

According to many people here, Scott Brooks is a terrible coach. Westbrook is too alpha for Durant to handle him. That 1-2 punch offense is not going to work anymore. Or maybe the front office who allowed Harden to leave and Jeff Green as well :facepalm

So who will you blame? :confusedshrug:

He had Westbrook, Harden, and Ibaka at one point. He has Westbrook, a top 3-5 player, still. There is no excuse for OKC not to win a ring at some point, barring injuries or an unforeseen break up of Durant-Westbrook. Durant-Westbrook should be this era's Jordan-Pippen in terms of dominance by a duo (Shaq-Kobe ultimately did not last for the long haul so I have them a cut below MJ-Pip).

Durants play on offense has slowly evolved to less 3 point shooting from a 7' guard to , at times slashing...
But post up game needs a lot of work in my opinion.

He could never lead a team to a ring , so he will have to be a 2nd option on a championship bound team.

---------
Same type of player Milwaukee's greek freak , learned at an early age , to go to the rake as well as use his size.
He is slowly evoling into a decent jump shooter and will evolve into a 3 point threat.
My point I would prefer Ginnis's development over Durants any day.
Once a big plays to shoot 3's like Durant , playing tough in the tree's is much harder.

:oldlol:
ATG players like MJ, Wade, LeBron, KD, etc. hit their primes in their 2nd or 3rd years. IMO, he hit his prime in his 3rd year.

Honestly, the thread is a bit ridiculous.

I don't think Durant can be held to this type of standard, considering he is playing in one of the top heavy strongest era in the Western conference the game has seen.

If he had the luxuries Lebron is afforded being in the East up till now? Ok, we can talk.

He had a top 3 PG in WB, a top 5 SG in Harden, a top 5 PF in Ibaka, and an elite defender in Thabo. I understand that they were injured in '13, but they had no excuses in '12.

And how old were they? How was the bench? Who did they play in the finals? And who was their head coach?

Seems like they had a lot of excuses not the win.

How does age matter when they literally had 2 top 3 players and 2 top 5 players (at their positions)?

Bench? They had a top 5 SG, who also won 6th MOY.

Durant is to blame. Winning rings is easy as long as you follow the LeBron steps of winning a championship.

No doubt there have been some unlucky circumstances, but few players have the kind of loaded teams the 11 through 14 Thunder were. They were still young in 11, but Durant got outplayed by Dirk and then had an even better team in 12 and lost.

Not his fault, but certainly loaded teams.

Then some bad luck in 13 and 14 and then an injury last year.

He's been great, but he's had 3 legit shots at the title in 11, 12, and 14. Some players don't get that many title shots in their entire careers.

I can't imagine he goes ringless, but the West is scary good. If he leaves and goes East...he'll definitely win at least 1.
