Huge Laker hater here. I can say he was the 2nd best center in the NBA for a year or two. Both years I think he was the most effective center offensively. The only time he consistently looked bad was when he went up against prime Dwight.

Shit some argued he was better than Dwight. At the time it was valid. Some Lakers fans tho saw the signs I didnt tho. And alas, I dont know what he is up to nowadays. Probably went back to his myspace days by wearing undies on his head and taking a selfie. :confusedshrug:

as a Laker fan my ears perked up when i read that as a rookie he disappeared in the middle of practice twice during training camp to go eat fruit loops in the locker room :lol

injuries obviously took it's toll on Bynum but even if he had been healthy I always questioned how much he wanted to play ball

he didn't really start until high school, i always got the feeling he played basketball because he was tall and not because he wanted to play basketball.. for Bynum it seemed he had a 1000 other places he'd rather be

I didnt hear about that. Got damn. :oldlol:

You guys definitely saw stuff us outsiders didn't know about. I was so into new environment, chance to be the man and prove himself. Yall said immature, not a leader or someone you want as your franchise player, no fire/passion. Just makes a ton of sense now. Spot on about him being someone who played basketball because he was tall.

He took a year off in an effort to heal his long-time nagging injuries. He's not out of the league due to lack of talent.

"Right in the middle of practice, he just disappeared," Lakers assistant coach Kurt Rambis said.

Rambis finally found the 7-foot, 285-pounder sitting on a table in the trainer's room eating handfuls of Froot Loops cereal.

After doing a double take, Rambis asked Bynum why he wasn't out on the floor with his teammates.

"I was feeling lightheaded," Bynum told him.

"So you're eating Froot Loops?" Rambis said. "You don't just leave practice without telling somebody."

Exactly. He had one amazing season where he somehow managed to stay healthy and dominate. After that, more injuries, a bad attitude, and now he's an afterthought. People hugely overrate Bynum, but for a season he absolutely was an elite big almost as good as Dwight. Plus he made his freethrows.

He definitely was the 2nd best in 2012.. Well, Lakers fans said he was THE best, until Dwight came.

He was RIDICULOUS before his first knee injury. That length/athleticism/touch was scary, but after his first injury all his explosiveness was gone.

Yeah I remember one particualr game in the first half of 2008, pre-Pau, where Bynum was dunking from Alley oop passes all game. I was like, damn Lakers got a new sherrif in town. Then the knee injury happened and he never regained his explosive jumping.

This.

That explosiveness was gone after that first injury. He could have carve a long career if he has that work ethic

that was probably when people thought Stephen Curry wouldn't even make it in the NBA with his 3 point shooting as a PG.

He was dunking on Shaq at 18. The kid was talented, just too stupid.

I was so happy when the 76ers signed him :lol

I think playing with Kobe helped Bynum become " arguably the best Center in the league"....even though he was never mentally strong enough to be a consistent NBA player.

Bieng pushed in Practice by Kobe, being shown how to work hard and become better.

Playing the best facilitator of the triangle ( Kobe) helped Bynum play to his potential.....without Kobe ....Bynum couldn't survive.......just as so many others have done the same.

He blew by Shaq with a good fake and quick spin, so he created space to get past Shaq he didn't dunk on him. An impressive play but it's different than dunking on someone.

yes...Kobe forced Bynum to work on both hands....and turning over both shoulders.

Kobe worked on his post game with hakeem, and made Bynum work on his with Kareem .

Kobe was always there to push Bynum and even threaten him ( ship his azz out) if he didn't put in the work....

not really.....it was a 1 on 1 scenario ( as much as you will ever see in a NBA game)

if 2 post players are playing 1 on 1 and they drop step or up fake and dunk.....that's getting dunked on.

John Starks supposedly dunked on MJ Pippen and Grant.....even though he attacked from the baseline and MJ was on the side of him.

being that Shaq and Bynum were in a actual Game scenario isolated 1 on 1....no one around....Bynum shook the sh!t outta Shaq and dunked on him.

He was definitely top 3. I thought he would keep developing into someone who would contest Dwight. He always seemed alittle lazy and inconsistent on effort but I thought he'd learn to be better. The center position has improved a lot in the last few years though
