Removing the ability of NBA teams from trading future 1st round picks will really help the NBA. Teams like Phili and Boston will no longer have fire sales trading their rosters for future 1st and start D-League teams.

Plus, because teams like the celtics won't own a half dozen future first, their wish to tank will be reduce. Instead, they realize that it worth playing to win then playing for draft picks.

No longer the NBA be filled with two types of teams, title contenders and tankers.

Lastly, GMs like Isiah Thomas and Billy King trade future 1st for win now teams that backfire. These GMs don't care about the future as they know an NBA GM's career only lasts a few year with a team. So they damage the team's future, get fire, and leave the team burning. This will eliminate this.

Yes, its more fun to have 1st round picks as trade options, but I think this would really help the NBA from having so many tanking teams.

If you're suspected of tanking, your roster gets put on a poll on nba.com and the winner gets shot.

a better idea is to have like a NIT of college basketball NBA style

Have the lottery teams play in a lottery playoffs and the winner of the 8 team Lottery playoffs gets top pick, runner up 2nd and so on.

That's stupid. Season already 82 games. You expand it. More games, more risk of injuries.

Im so nba'd out

Not really, its a single elimination match. So its 3 more games for the winner/runnerup.

Lottery is 14 teams not 8. So what happens to the teams 9-14? They miss this silly NIT tournament? You do realize there have been winners of the lottery that finished with the 9th worse record right? But of course, hence the 8 team elimination derrrrr. :hammerhead:

System is fine, people need to stop complaining. OKC didnt become a title contender only having 1 first rd pick each year.

I know its 14, the thing is it stops the top 5-8 from tanking for higher picks. No need to prevent 11-14 because they aint tanking they just suck.

If anything, you're making picks MORE valuable by making them more scarce. Teams would tank because there would be less picks to use. It would also kill the trade market. Terrible idea.

If your prime consideration as a fan is seeing the highest quality basketball you should hope the draft goes away.

Bad organizations would actuality have to truly improve their organization because they would no longer be rewarded for incompetence with top young players. In the absence of a draft NBA teams would quickly start global basketball camps to identify top notch talent. The evolution of basketball strategy would be quickened because teams now have to show real improvement to their fans.

If the NBA draft was eliminated the quality of the league would go up dramatically. It will never be done because it is a great way to lower salaries and player mobility.

That rule would be too restrictive on GMs. How many trades have you seen get completed without at least 1 draft pick being involved?
