F*ck Austin Rivers. Let him rot in Boston.

That same twitter has posted that Doc's asking about Crowder (would be decent, cheap pickup imo) and Turner (he can't be serious). Said Clips are very willing to trade Crawford. If that happens, I'm assuming Rivers is part of the trade to make salaries sort of match up. Feel like it'd hurt their bench scoring though, but Crowder could help defensively.

Reality is we have nothing Denver wants.

We can't trade a 1st, Bullock and Wilcox are middling prospects and Jamal Crawford - while a good player - isn't much use to non-playoff team.

Perhaps they are thinking of moving Hawes though. He is a good player but not a good fit with Blake and DJ so it pretty much limited to 15 min a game.

In retrospect the Bledsoe deal was like a Harden-light deal.

The Bledsoe trade was necessary. Did you see the contract he forced the Suns to give him? No way in hell could the Clippers manage that contract along with everything else, and he was gonna walk if they didn't.

They didn't get equal value back, but that's just the luck of the draw :confusedshrug:

They could have had him for one last season on his cheap rookie deal. LAC defense took a hit without him. Collison played well last season, but Bledsoe, if they gave him enough burn, would have been the better option.

Clearly he is not what he was but the only hope is buy outs to help the 3 spot. They Def need another 3, and Prince seems like the best available.

He's not even better than Matt Barnes at this point and the entire fanbase laments him as a starter. Why is Doc refusing to let the young guys play? Bullock was drafted as a 3&D guy yet he sees as much court time as CDR. Even more baffling: drafting a 2 like Wilcox when guys like K.J. McDaniels (who filled a need) were still on the board--and then not even playing him.

Let's not act like we've only had this season to witness how pathetic the Clippers' SF rotation is. It's been a problem ever since Doc got here. And he's squandered assets to make room for guys who are worthless. And then squandered more assets to get rid of them. What the hell?

I can't wait until he makes a trade for his son, a 38% shooting guard with absurd usage rates, to fill a hole in our wing defence! God I wish the Celtics-Clippers trade embargo still existed.

addendum: remember when Rivers wanted to trade DAJ and a 1st for Garnett? Yeah.

Levity
01-14-2015, 06:45 PM
What happened to Terrence Williams? Doc liked him and originally played him as a PG in BOS, but he's been utilized as a 3, as well (and played well at the spot for the kings). Couldnt he contribute to this team?

ihatetimthomas
01-14-2015, 06:46 PM
I'd play bullock too, but he seems to have the Phil Jackson approach and hates playing rooks and young guys. Barnes is superior but I think Prince provides insurance. He's not going to make dumb mistakes and is a good team player.

Whats done is done, doc hasn't made the necessary moves to get a legit 3 but you can't dwell on it. All you can do is deal with what you got. I think Prince will at least be steady

Don't you think at some point Ballmer tells Doc that they need to hire additional staff for roster management and maybe takes away some of his responsibilities? He's been one of the worst GMs since he took over. This sounds insane, but people on this board literally would have done a better job managing those assets over the last 18 months, at a far cheaper salary to boot hahah.

By not managing the roster better, he probably cost his squad a shot at a Finals run. I didn't expect for him to handle the draft, signings, & trades so consistently poorly.

Thanks for the update!

That second unit doesn't look good and puts a big onus on Nate to be a really good sparkplug. Also puts lots of pressure on starters to play well more consistently.

FWIW, Rivers last year shot 49% on C&S 3s and he's got good size. If he can be some semblance of a 3&D guard off the bench, it'll help a lot. Unfortunately, it's a long shot for him to do that imo. Maybe Clips can pick up O'Neal or Blatche to get another back up big. Don't think I trust a Hedo/Baby/Hawes platoon that much.

That is a pretty pathetic bench. Only guy who can create is Nate and he is not all that great. He also can't run a offense so it's not like he would be setting guys up. Clippers bench is already paper thin, Hawrs is not leading the bench mob. I think you are being too optimistic about the bench. The starters will end up being forced to play even more if no one can manufacture buckets off the bench.
