Reading various stories on last night's OSU celebration in Columbus, I realized things were kind of split right down the middle.
NBC: "Buckeyes Fans in Columbus..." http://www.nbcnews.com/watch/nbc-news/buckeyes-fans-in-columbus-celebrate-ohio-state-national-title-383564355818
NBC-Columbus: "Buckeye Fans Stocking Up...." http://www.nbc4i.com/story/27838711/buckeye-fans-stocking-up-on-championship-gear
My instinct says the former, because the entity is the Buckeyes - The Ohio State Buckeyes, and going singular (Buckeye) would no longer properly reference the team.
Sort of similar to Bulls fans vs. Bull fans, no? Or Pistons fans vs. Piston fans? Because the entity is the Detroit Pistons - always plural by trademark and whatnot, right?
