He was on the Grizzlies earlier in the season. They then released him and the Heat picked him up after he put up some big numbers in the d league.

Miami didn't "get" Wiltside, Wiltside simply chose the Heat to be the recipient of his awesomeness.

Better than Peak Shaq, they even employ hack-a-shaq on him.

Kid played a heck of a game again tonight. 5 blocks to go along with an efficient shooting night + active on the glass. Impressive stuff.

Where'd this guy come from? He was trash when he got drafted to the Kings. Now he's all of a sudden a straight beast? WTF?

There was a former I think Suns front office guy on Lebotard other day saying Whiteside was basically a quote "jackazz" when he came into the league and the stigma was hard to shake. Hit rock bottom, went to europe and i guess got his brain together.

He has to work on not fouling so much so he can play more Minutes.

I love it when some random guys come out of nowhere and start to beast:lol Good for the Heat.

This guy's draftexpress is pretty impressive. 9'5 standing reach and a no-step vert similar to max vert... ultimate traits of an elite shot blocker/ rim protector. I'll admit I didn't know where this guy came from, but how did scouts paid to look at players 24/7 miss this guy? It's not like he's Ben Wallace who got passed up on because he's 6'6 or something. He can run the floor too? WTF

Is he starting?
He's too foul prone to start against a teams #1 Center. He does seem to start the second half quite a bit lately though. He's only averaging like 25 mins the past week but putting up insane numbers.

they had to go find him on the moon where he was playing in a new no-gravity league and killing it. Then, they had to offer him all the oil in Saudi Arabia plus all the virgins in heaven.

Or they picked his ass up out of the d-league dumpster pile. You choose.

he grew up...it's another great reason you should need to graduate college before coming to the NBA. most players are knuckleheads coming out of college at a young age.

Its not like he hasnt had other opportunities in the league.111minutes over a 2 year span with the dysfunctional Kings with their terrible coaching staff, spacing, and log-jam of mediocre bigs? It seems the 2 times he had decent minutes he put up 5/7 in 14 min and 4/10 in 19.

Not the best obviously, but it makes one wonder if that waranted 3 years of obscurity in the dleague. I mean 8/8 bigs are getting 12 mil contracts if they have any type of rim protecting ability in this league; you have guys like Oden receiving contract after contract on like a 1% chance he can play half a season or playoff, Bynum etc. You'd think someone would have signed a guy of this size and mobility to a few years on minimum to see what he can do on a team with a decent culture and coaching staff.
