January 13, 2015 – The NBA announced today that Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, January 5 through Sunday, January 11. It is the second career Player of the Week award for Walker, who led the Hornets to a perfect 4-0 record on the week.

Walker led the NBA in both scoring and field goals made for the week, averaging 30.3 points and 11.0 field goals in four games played. He scored at least 28 points in each of the four games, including more than 30 points in each of the first two games. Including his 30-point performance in the team’s game on Saturday, January 3, Walker recorded a career-best three straight games of 30 points or more and currently has a career-long streak of five straight games with at least 25 points.

Over the four games played during the week, Walker averaged 30.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 36.2 minutes, while shooting .500 from the field (44-88), .364 from beyond the three-point line (8-22) and .893 from the free-throw line (25-28). He had the highest field goal percentage of any Eastern Conference player with more than 10.0 field goal attempts per game and ranked fourth among Eastern Conference guards in rebounding.

The Hornets were one of three teams in the NBA to go 4-0 in the week and currently have a season-long five game win streak.

For the season, Walker is averaging 18.9 ppg, 5.4 apg and 4.0 rpg in 35.9 mpg, leading the team in points, assists and minutes played. He ranks fifth in the NBA in assists per turnover (3.4), and is one of only seven players to rank in the top 20 in both points and assists. Walker is one of four NBA players to score 30 or more points in three consecutive games and his current streak of 25 or more points in five straight games has only be reached by three other players this season.

The following chart shows Walker’s statistics from the week:

Game Points Rebounds Assists
January 5 at Boston 33 5 5
January 7 vs. New Orleans 31 4 4
January 8 at Toronto 29 8 7
January 10 at New York 28 7 1

He's a good player. Not a real PG, and probably not a player you want on a contending team, but a good player nonetheless.

Dude is insanely clutch. I only really watch him against the Knicks and OKC. Dominates the Knicks and plays terrible against my main man Westbrook :pimp:
