It's all about connections and what you can bring. I have a 5 year goal to work for the NBA.

Right now I have pitched to two different VPs, and a division President. I know one GM on the basis where if I email him, he emails me right back, and a few people in different offices. No players or coaches though. It's much harder to get to know people around the teams.

It's hard breaking that barrier where people see you as someone they admire in another organisation to then seeing you as a vital part of their team. I'm trying to worm my way in through special projects. I'd share more information, but I'm not risking anything.
