View Full Version : Could Kobe Have Been All Time Assist Leader?

If he focused on passing instead of scoring? Last night he got 17 assists like it was nothing. Kobe is a truly gifted passer who just needed to score for his teams to win so he could get 5 championships. But if he had more scoring options on his teams he easily could've been all time assist leader, in my opion.

Probably, but he normally turns the ball over at a high rate when he's playing facilitator.
So... All time TO leader too.

He'd become all time turnover ldr before age of 33 if he tried!
Prolly have a career avg of 5 TO and 9.5 assist per game

His TOs are usually high because players get so f*cking surprised that he's passing the ball...lol

His passing is just like his scoring. High risk low reward. Not a smart basketball player. Nice for a good show tho

**** no he couldn't.
The alltime assist leader is John Stockton with 15806, which is more than 2.5 times as many as Kobe has
Beating the total of 15806 assists requires 20 straight seasons averaging 10 per game and staying entirely injury free ...

More chances of all time TO leader.
But he is the all time leader of the "Kobe assist" (missed FG --> off reb for the newbies)

It's possible considering he's most remembered for his alley oop assist to Shaq.

as a lebron fan, i gotta admit, if Kobe actually tries to stat pad his assists he could easily get 28+ assists.

awkward balding pattern > rape and breaking an old man's wrist at church.

Sure could if he played PG. He doesn't even turn the ball over that much. 3.6 TO vs Harden and Westbrook's 4.0

I agree. Non convicted rape and putting an old man in his place, at church none the less, is much more alpha than bizarre balding patterns. They don't make X shaped headbands yet, but if they did, I would invest stock in it. I predict that business will be booming in a year or two.
Hey Yo

No, I was just implying that the old man himself is more alpha.

No playoffs. No story.
Sorry kobe but if your not in the playoffs your about as interesting as Oladipo or Rubio. No one said you have to win the ship but if your not even going to give yourself a chance then there is nothing to look at anymore. Last time Kobe was interesting was in 2011 trying to 3-peat but instead got swept. Like who tries to 3peat and gets swept?

If Kobe was Passbe from the beginning instead of 81be he'd easily be the assist leader. I'd rather him be the all time leader in points than assists though.

Given the number of games Kobe has played, he'd have to have averaged 12.35 assists per game to have the record by this point.
Stockton's career average was 10.5. Magic's was 11.2. Jason Kidd's best single season was 10.4. Steve Nash's best single season was 11.6.
Good luck, pass-first Kobe who never existed.

He wouldn't be the leader, but he would be top 3 if he focused on passing his whole career.
He wouldn't have more than one ring though, great iso players are the key to winning a championship

anyone that actually believes this is either
A. Keen for a kobe soggy sayo
B. Missing a chromosome
Saying that if he was in a position to have tried.. not only would he have missed 13k+ shots.. he would have 13k+ turnovers
13kBe.. only player in history to miss 13k shots and 13k turnovers lol

:facepalm
he had 3 10+ assist games in a row in the 2010 Playoffs in the WCF against Phoenix, averaging 32/7/11 on 55/45/88 shooting in those games.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bryanko01/gamelog/2010/#187-189-sum:pgl_basic_playoffs
and he had b2b triple doubles in 2003 season with Shaq injured, averaging 33/15/12 on 62/38/90 shooting in those games.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bryanko01/gamelog/2003#417-418-sum:pgl_basic
:kobe: :kobe:
And even from this season, he had b2b 10+ assist games with the 30+ pt triple double and the game vs Pistons...
Dude's averaging 9 apg in his last 7 games, hasn't had a single game with less than 6 since that Sacramento game...and no 0 assist games yet.
