LeBron James continues to reach milestones in his first season back with Cavaliers.
Friday night against the Clippers, James became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 24,000 points, at 30 years, 17 days. He surpassed Kobe Bryant (31 years, 75 days). LeBron faced Kobe in the same Staples Center one night earlier.
It's an impressive feat for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that James is a primary scorer, but has always built his game on his versatility. James joins Bryant as the only players to tally 24,000 points along with 6,000 rebounds and 6,000 assists. James will likely pass Ray Allen, Patrick Ewing, Artis Gilmore and Allen Iverson on the all-time scoring list this season, and should crack the top 20 all-time next year at the tender age of 31.
"It means I've been healthy for the most part throughout my career and that I've had some great teammates around me," he told reporters, according to The Associated Press.
James had reached a less desirable plateau this season: most minutes before age 30. He played 42 on Friday, giving him 34,481 for his career. The workload is starting to have an effect; James recently missed eight games with back and knee issues, a period he called "the most difficult thing I've been through" as a player.
James saw what else might be in store for him when he took on Kobe on Thursday. Bryant and the Lakers are trying to manage his minutes after an injury-plagued 2013-14 season.

He's also 2nd in the league in ppg this Season. Harden is averaging 1 more ppg while LBJ is averaging 1.8 more ppg than the 3rd guy on the scoring lists.

Also the youngest to reach 3 finals losses.
He's also going to be the youngest player with at least 3 finals MVP. LBJ is a superior finals performer than Kobe.

When he doesn't win a championship this year with the Cavs after going into the season as the most hyped/stacked team in the league it will be yet another blemish/tarnish to his already spotty legacy just like the 2011 Finals meltdown.

Oscar did it in 865 games by my count, which is 9 less games than Lebron. West took two more games than Lebron to reach that mark. Not sure about anyone else (obviously MJ and Wilt would be less games).

Bleh. KD is an off ball player who has a true alpha on his team who takes more shots than him while Bran is ball dominant and took by far the most shots on his Cleveland teams. KD is clearly the better scorer. Not really comparable.

i have heard that kd is also an off-ball passer. MJ was a really good off-ball passer too. 3ball told me.

Not that I believe you care whats true but....
At least 3 first ballot hall of famers lost 3 finals before 30.
Jerry West lost in the finals 6-7 times before 30. Dr.J might have been at 3. He lost 77, 80, and 82...but I think he was probably 31 82. He lost game 7 of the ECF in 81 as well though. But they would have beaten the 81 Rockets.
Baylor must have 5 or so before 30.
Bob Pettit lost at least 3 times in the finals and he retired young. He probably lost 3 before 30.
