They have the talent.

10-2 in their last 12. They can get to .500 by seasons end.

They are 2 games out of the 8th seed. Wouldn't surprise me if they are around a 6th seed.

Yep. They end up either 7 or 8 for sure. Will be tough matchup for certain teams.

The real question is can they win the finals? They've already proven they can hang with and beat the best.

They're the "We Believe" Warriors of the East. They'll make it and they'll provide an interesting series.

Funny how getting rid of ONE player gets your team a chance at a playoff seed. SVG was like "**** tanking, dis nikkuh gotta go" :lol

Of course MONGO. With the win tonight they are now only a game behind the nets for the 8th seed

Ill tell you what, the Pistons are not the team I really want to see in the first round. Drummond is one of those guys who we don't really have an answer for. He could average 15rpg in a series against us.

SVG is a damned good coach too, and you know they're just going to bomb 3's and that can make for some big games.

2 weeks ago, when this same thread was made, I said probably not. Now? I am pretty convinced that they will overtake both charlotte (no kemba, big al out, etc) and brooklyn (fire sale) for the 8th. Of course, a lot can happen over the second half (more or less) of the season.......

Yes I think they will get ahead of the Heat and the Nets soon.

It wouldn't be that impressive given Nets hold the 8th seed if playoffs started today 8 games under .500. All the while are rumored to be dealing its best players.

You mean if he got a team that was expected to fight for the 8 seed to the 8 seed?

Bud would take every single vote if we wind up in 1st.

A coach of a team who is a number 1 seed should not get COY. Too easy

Really? If said team improved by 20 games from the previous season and wasn't picked by a single pundit to finish higher than 6th in the conference?

Bud is the biggest no brainer CotY I can even remember, (assuming things hold up).

A coach whose team finishes under .500 is the one who should not get COY.

Even if say for fun we followed this? SVG still would be behind other coaches via Toronto, Wash, Portland. :confusedshrug:

It shouldn't be about the record, it should be about the more appealing outcome after the regular season ends

Hawks..............winning all season

Pistons................No one expected them to do anything and came out of nowhere and made the playoffs

Give me the pistons

I think bud and Kerr would be neck and neck TBH

Kerr has got that warriors team playing like a true contender. They have very little weaknesses now.

Kerr has been great, but they were a 50 win team last year with a PG who many expected might become an MVP candidate. They might improve by 10 games and get the 1 seed, which would be great.

The Hawks were a 38 win team with a couple fringe all-stars and an expectation of 43 or so wins. We may improve by 20 games and get the 1 seed, which would be unfathomable considering where we were projected at the end of last year.

Both teams made playoffs.

It was probably expected Atlanta would be much improved. They lost horFord for much of last season, so they naturally were going to win more games this year, but no one thought that they would look this good though.

They are neck and neck. Both have strong arguments and the regular season wins has nothing to do with it, considering horfords return from injury.

So you're saying a 51 win team in the West is equivalent to a 38 win team in the East because they're both in the playoffs?

Those are not equal starting points.

So your saying it's an advantage for COY if your record the previous year was worse..?

What if u argued increasing 10 wins in the west is way better than increasing 20 in the east because of the competition.. they're probably neck and neck but seems hawks fans have got this WE DA BES complex all of a sudden.

first of all, get the **** out of here with your non-pistons shit. secondly, while I agree that svg shouldnt be COY, to suggest he has no case (presuming the pistons continue playing well enough to make the playoffs) is assinine. Its not just about pre-season expectations. SVG may be orchestrating the biggest comeback in NBA history. To start 5-23 and make the playoffs would be unprecedented. :djparty :basketball  :milton :cletus: :crazysam: :lebronamazed:

Exactly 5-23 which was not that far from the sixers and manages to go on a long winning streak to make the playoffs. I think stan would have to get some consideration

the pistons are making the playoffs. the question now is can they win a round in the playoffs? id love to see them face the cavs in the first round....svg was one of the few coaches that gave younger bron's cavs fits.

Well it's not often that you get a team who is 5-23, waive their leading shot taker and then improve to likely make the playoffs. According to history that doesn't happen either.

Same team basically from a year prior. They started off bad, got rid of a player and started winning. Making the playoffs in the East (use perspective) isnt a great feat. As I mentioned that no one even speaks on. BKN are currently the 8th seed if playoffs started today. 8 games under .500. If that's not pathetic to you then you have low standards and probably date fat b*tches.

So yeah history has shown who wins COY and Detroit isn't a candidate no matter how many times you mention they started 5-23. Funny thing is Detroit was only 8 games out of the 8th seed when they were 5-23.
