View Full Version : Who's more likely to have their season crash and burn? Hawks or Warriors
Gotta say Warriors. I wouldnt be surprised if OKC or the Spurs beat them early in the playoffs.
Hawks headed to the championship to be honest.

Depends what "Crash and Burn" means. The Warriors could lose to OKC in the first round and it wouldn't be a Crash and Burn, the West is just that good this year.
The Hawks are more likely to peter out if someone gets injured. Korver's shooting is also likely to see some mean reversion, 50% from 3 at high volumes is unlikely to be sustainable. Losing that hurts the offense a lot.

A first round exit for a 68 win team is a burn no matter what. These guys have trophy expectations.
Korver's value is the threat of his 3 which wont disappear. The one's he hits are a bonus.

Hawks. They're peaking too soon. Second round exit at best. Warriors may lose in the second round or WCF, but that would hardly be a crash and burn since I picked Portland to come out of the West this year anyways. With LMAs injury, maybe it's the Grizzlies.

If the Warriors play a healthy OKC or SAS in the first round... I would probably favor the presumably 8th seed in that scenario.
Hawks losing to the Bulls or Cavs in the 2nd round would be the same. If the Hawks manage to stay the #1 seed (I don't think they will) and somehow lose to the Nets, Pistons, Hornets, Bucks, or Pacers in the 1st round... Well then.

A first or second round loss invalidates the Hawks season for the most part.
Not totally, but they'll still look like a threadmill team at the end of the day.

Who is going to take first seed from the Hawks?
Sorry, but it's not going to be Chicago.
They're already 7 games behind with a tough schedule coming up. They might be 10+ games back within 2 weeks.

Hawks style is built for the playoffs. I can't see anybody taking the #1 seed away from them. They have the right defensive intensity, tempo, and offensive game plan to win it all. The only thing that could stop them is injuries, or a team like GSW, or SAS. No other team is really poised to beat them... unless somehow something clicks for the Cavs.

If both teams fail to get past the second round, it's a crash and burn. I don't care how some of you spin it. To dominate the regular season the way they are and to not even at least get to the conference finals is a failure, period.
