Was prime Dwight a better or worse player than current Boogie?

22.9 ppg, 14.1 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.4 spg, 2.4 bpg, 3.6 to's on 60 fg% and 60 ft% (finished 2nd in MVP award shares that year)

vs.

23.9 ppg, 12.6 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.3 spg, 1.7 bpg, 4.3 to's on 50% and 81%

Better. Dwight was dominant on both ends of the court. Even with his limited post game, teams doubled him almost every time he touched the ball. On defense even if he didn't block the layup or dunk or shot, his defensive presence was enough to deter folks from coming in the paint.

Dwight > Boogie

Cousins is the better offensive player but Dwight was beasting on both ends and took a Magic squad to the Finals while Cousins cant make the playoffs

Right now I'd take Boogie, at both their best I'd pick Dwight.

Oh, and Cousins is shooting 48.4% from the field, not 50...

Dwight always played in the weak East with good teams

You don't become the best defensive team because of one person. Dwight had the advantage of SVG as well..

I dont think yal understand, im saying they are a good team because of Dwight, it was built around him. Im saying that its not a good team when you take him off the squad. And i mentioned in my first post Dwight took Magics to the Finals so i would know this

Yes i know but they dont go anywhere close to where they went without Dwight.

They would have made the playoffs in the East...

If they make the playoffs that means that they were a good team, but Dwight just put them over the last push they needed to be Finals contenders.

The Magic on 09 withouth Dwight wouldnt make the playoffs in the West, they were alright. All they did was feed Dwight and swing the ball to 3pt shooters

Prime Dwight was easily better. I'd take current Boogie over current Dwight tho.

dwight was winning multiple DPOY awards while averaging 20+ pts. Give me dwight.

rashard on that juice helped propel that magic team to the finals.

I'll never forget that 09 series, Lewis, Nelson, Pietrus, Hedo, etc., all had the best playoff series of their lives and never duplicated it.

Magic i think shot something like 60% from behind the arc. :facepalm

Dwight has an absolute monster that year. Only a handful of teams had the size to deal with him.

Surround Boogie with shooters of Orlando's quality during Dwights tenure, and DMC's efficiency goes way up. Dwight will always have defense on him, but Boogie does make the effort and moves his feet better this season than he has his entire career.

Practice?

I would take 2008-2012 (until the back problem) Dwight because his defense was way better, he never got injured and could make 20 points on 60%.

But I must say that I would like to see for once Boogie on a well structured team with great floor stretchers and a good coach just like Dwight had.

Dwight and it's not even close. Anyone saying Cousins knows only the offensive end of the game. People were saying that Dwight might end up as a top 5 GOAT defensive center before his back injury. Couple that defense with 20 PPG and 12+ RPG... No brainer.

My initial answer was gonna be Dwight easily...but then we have to consider that Orlando Dwight had the entire team built well around him, with a coach who knew how to use Dwight brilliantly. Cousins has never had that..the closest he had to that was the early part of this season, before the Kings Kings'd it up and they fell off the map.

Cousins right now imo is incredibly underrated..which is saying something considering most have him as a top 3 C at worst...the dude is an absolute animal at his best, a top 5 talent in the world playing on a dysfunctional (sorry Kings fans) franchise with no real sense of direction. If he had a team built entirely around and smartly so, and a top tier coach who knew how to play him effectively..who knows how good Cousins could be. He's already visibly dominant when on his game, and the advanced stats for him are just insane.

I'd still take peak Orlando Dwight over Cousins as a player...but I think Cousins will surpass that in the next couple seasons. As far as right now..Cousins is easily better imho. Harden and Cousins would take the Rockets to a championship.

Prime Dwight for sure. But isn't he still super young anyways? He's just not playing as well as he has in the past.

But I'd take Cousins over pretty much any center in the league right now.
