Westbrook most effective at using his strength:

The RWB and MJ highlights above - hangtime shots off a one-step vertical (drop-step) - require a combination of tremendous upper-body strength necessary to out-hang the defender, unique IN-AIR coordination and agility, and elite two-foot hops.

Historically, only Jordan had this level of athleticism... However, now Westbrook - who is a smaller, worse-shooting version of Jordan with a fraction the repertiore - is also showing similar athletic ability.

Here's Jordan doing a drop-step and making Shaq go back several feet.

Hangtime shots off a drop-step were not rare shots for Jordan, like they are for Westbrook or other players - they were a standard shot for Jordan.. an ordinary part of his ability.

Here's many more GIF's of Jordan showing one-of-a-kind athleticism - his hangtime, creativity and strength off a drop-step: http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10422917&postcount=172

it's not unrelated dumbass - only Westbrook and Jordan have the requisite athleticism to make those type of shots...

i hate it when people complain about the relevance of a post, when it's their own shallow understanding of the game that prevents them from seeing the link.

let's face it.. most of you guys didn't even know what a drop-step is (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkHs25ZCnlc&t=1m33s).

Don't get mad at me just because your knowledge of the game isn't sufficient to see the connection and relevance of my post... :confusedshrug:

Westbrook's combination of quickness, hops, strength, and IN-AIR agility/coordination is unmatched in today's NBA.. and yet Jordan's overall combination of athleticism was vastly superior.

OP's highlight showing Westbrook's drop-step move is a once-a-year thing for him, whereas that was a standard shot (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10422917&postcount=172) for Jordan.

Durant is better at it.

His lack of strength gets him an extra 6 or 7 free throws a game. Far more effective than the way Westbrook goes about using his strength.

Westbrook and Jordan are the only two players with the athletic ability to do these types of drop-step, hangtime shots, so it's not unrelated.

It takes a combination of IN-AIR coordination and agility, quickness, and two-foot hops that only Jordan had, and now to a much lesser extent, Westbrook.

Jordan did them as a standard shot (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10422917&postcount=172) in his repertoire, while Westbrook does them once a year.

Westbrook gets away with way more offensive charging fouls than anyone else in the league right now. On top of that, opposing players who are run over by that runaway freight train usually get called for blocking fouls.

he does it way less than harden, lebron, and griffin.

most of the time he gets to the hoop it's via blowing past someone. the main time he ever commits offensive fouls would be posting up.

It's not off-topic... Jordan and Westbrook are the only ones with the athletic capability to do those types of shots (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10422917&postcount=172)... i think it's pretty damn cool.

I totally forgot to mention - the link in the OP goes to a youtube clip that is titled "Russell Westbrook moving like Michael Jordan"

:confusedshrug: .... what more can i say - again, Michael Jordan is totally related to this thread - he and Westbrook are the only ones with the requisite athleticism to do shots like this.

Of course, these types of physically-overpowering hangtime shots, especially off a drop-step, were much more standard (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10422917&postcount=172) for Jordan than Westbrook.
